7/25/06 I would beaware of the behavior of "creationists" flaming this page to dispute it's validaty and "plain english" in order to confuse people who come here for info. I just do not understand how one would have a problem understanding the logic of mutation, i.e. for example genetic mutation; regardless of differing opinions on "natural mutation", can not a sceintists genetically modify a living organism to be a mutant of it's origianl blueprint? Therefore, it matters not if one does no agree with the "natural" or "biological" definition, a mutant is a mutant is a mutant, wether it be mutation from radiation, survival, or genetic tampering. I just fear that there are those who will cry foul the instant they see the word "evolution", instead of seeing the big picture of wikipedia as a dictionary.

Confusion[change source]

Most of this article should be (re)moved elsewhere. This article should first and foremost deal with the overall and biologic definition of mutation. It should not be about mutation in fiction, or if this would be included in this article is should be clearly labeled as 'mutation in fiction', which it is not. The way it is now just invites confusion. The background of Marvel Universe comics should go elsewhere. 217.95.238.51 20:34, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No flaming[change source]

The complaints against this article have nothing to do with fundamentalistic creationists, at least I haven't seen anybody comment who would fit that label. The problem with this article is not because of mutation (whatever kind), natural selection or evolution, but because this article is about stuff from the Marvel Comics Universe. As a proper encyclopedia, this article should thusly be titled somewhere along the lines of marvel comic mutants, marvel universe, section: mutants, or otherwise. For the time being I'll just put up a link to "mutation", and hope that some X-men fan will help out and remove the content to a correcter named article.

Also, Wikipedia is not a dictionary. :-) 217.95.249.3 16:37, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To the very first poster... did you even read this article?!? 128.187.0.164 23:32, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

delete this page[change source]

I agree that this page is completely out of place in the Simple English wikipedia. It is very long and complicated. It also writes as if it is factual when it is actually a history and definition from a fictional universe. If an article on Marvel Comics mutants is to be included in this wikipedia, it needs to be completely rewritten from scratch.TK421 15:23, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Major rewrite[change source]

The page has been moved from Mutant to Mutant (Marvel). In keeping, I rewrote the entire article based on first saying what a mutant was and then (to try and show notability) what their significance is. As a 40+ year collection of works, Marvel has used their mutants with one enduring theme: Racism and bigotry. The books serve well as a collection of opinions on all forms of Bigotry (Race, sexual orientation, even social position) so that is where I took the focus of the article. All inwiki was removed as unapplicable with the exception of the en.wiki article that explains mutants in the marvel universe in much more depth and detail. -- Creol 20:19, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is much better. Thanks! TK421 19:33, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
