Merger proposal[change source]

I propose to merge National Anthem of Croatia into Lijepa naša domovino. I created the new article not knowing about the old one, when I saw a red link on the Croatia article. Almost all other national anthem articles have the name of the anthem, and this is how they should be named. Alalch Emis (talk) 08:20, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure whether we have discussed this before, but my opinion verges on 'no'. The title in Croatian means nothing in English. The English title describes the content accurately, and can be understood by all readers of English. Of course, I understand that anyone deliberately looking for the page would still find it under its Croatian name. There should be another link from "Croatian National Anthem", which might even be a better title. Titles should be what the average reader expects to see. Our average reader is a North American schoolkid... Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:14, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The vast majority of national anthem articles have the name of the anthem in the title (nat. anthem category[1]). It appears to be more conventional. Functionally it isn't important because of redirects. Alalch Emis (talk) 11:01, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
National anthems of Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Chile, Palestine, China, India, Pakistan... all have titles in English here. Macdonald-ross (talk) 09:02, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
