My life came screeching to a halt.[change source]

How is example 6 ("My life came screeching to a halt") an example of personification?

The life of the speaker is not the speaker so that his or her life is something other than the speaker about which the speaker is making a statement. Screeching is something that human beings do but so do owls. The question to be addressed is whether personification applies only when the human attribute is exclusively human or when others share the attribute with humans. JohnDeBruyn
