Many of the articles considered for merging are little more (and sometimes less) than just a restatement of the title of the article. For instance:

"Mississippi Mud Pie is a type of pie.", "A pot pie is a pie that is cooked in a pot" (both redundant and wrong - not cooked in a pot).

All the articles in question should be deleted and in the rare instance there is actual information in the article, merge that into the main (Chocolate pie - made with chocolate custard. Chicken pot pie - pot pie made with chicken and vegetables. etc.)-- Creol(talk) 23:48, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The question is what information do you expect in "Mississippi Mud Pie" that is not already in "pie". SimpleWP is not a recipe database; and as the articles look now, IMO, no article (ie merged) is better. Of course if someone came up with History, or other interesting tidbits for said pie, that would certainly justify an article of itself. Let's give it a week, if nothing changed by then, we can simply go over the pie article, and delete the one-sentence articles. --Eptalon 08:26, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would think the basic information such as it is a chocolate filled pie with a chocolate crust would be a bare minimum. That variations of it include adding Coffee and or marshmallow wouldn't hurt either. As the name is not very informative (apple pie is pie made of apples.. easy enough to figure out, Mississippi mud pie? pie with mud??) the basic makeup of the item should be included. Certainly not enough information for an entire article, but should be included in the merged article "Pie". I would also suggest naming the main grouping to include dessert pies and non-dessert pies as well as savoury and sweet. It would be easier to understand Sweet / Dessert pies and Savoury pies / Meals than just sweet and savoury. Or at least include a line about how each group is commonly eaten (as a dessert or as a meal) -- Creol(talk) 08:59, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
