Talk:Rearrangement reaction
Appearance
- broad class - This broad is not really simple. Maybe wide or something totally different.
- The whole first sentence is quite long. - done
- Now something less important: Many organic chemistry text books have such diagrams. would actually be POV without a reference, however, not the most important thing.
- It would be unfair to single out a group of text books as examples. It is a widely accepted notation in academia. However, everyone knows that the notation is not literally true. It is like the football coach who draws the diagram of a play, but the actual sequence of events on the playing field never matches the plan due to the fog of battle. Understanding the quantum mechanics of a chemical reaction is more than drawing a few arrows.
- The actual mechanism of alkyl groups moving, as in Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement, probably involves transfer of the moving alkyl group smoothly along a bond, not ionic bond-breaking and forming. is too long. - done
Seems to be good otherwise. -Barras (talk) 21:52, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Example of why this is not Simple
[change source]Aside from not cleaning out the meaningless stuff still left in from En such as non-existent "Main article" links, templates, etc. One example:
"In pericyclic reactions, looking at orbital interactions give a better picture than simple discrete electron transfers. But, the curved arrows showing a sequence of discrete electron transfers can give the same result as a rearrangement reaction. Yet, the diagrams are not necessarily realistic."
Not even close to simple. Gotanda (talk) 14:54, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
