NPOV on Bose[change source]

'Super hero' presumably is literally wrong given that Bose wasn't a fictional character.

Additionally, 'super hero' contains a normative element. The NPOV policy says that articles should be 'avoid stating opinions as facts'. It later says that one should '[a]void the temptation to rephrase biased or opinion statements with weasel words, for example, "Many people think John Doe is the best baseball player."'

The statement 'Bose was a superhero' is an opinion. By the second, the addition of the qualification that he was a 'superhero in India' is insufficient to render the statement neutral, hence the concern.

Thank you for your explanation of your NPOV concern. I am very much inclined to agree with you. On Wikipedia, we call wording like that "peacock terms", because they are used to make the person sound or seem much brighter or more important than they are, much like Peacocks use their feathers. The wording in the article is subjective, and I believe that it does violate NPOV. Because of this, I will look back through earlier versions where they may not appear, or remove them from the article. Thanks for pointing this out! DaneGeld (talk) 21:57, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
