Hello,

I am the poet Suzanne Cleary, and have just discovered that someone has begun to create a Wikipedia listing for me, but that editors are asking that my credentials be substantiated.

Suggestion: If you visit the websites for anthologies, publishers, and booksellers, often you will find Table of Contents hyperlinks that show my name and the title of my work(s). This will prove that I have, e.g. won a Pushcart Prize. A Google search can easily establish my other activities and credentials, etc. Academic library research--suggested by Wikipedia editor--is not as fruitful as searching commercial/art sources, since academic libraries often do not focus on contemporary poetry/poets.

I could assist you in writing the Wikipedia entry, if you want.

All best, Suzanne Cleary

As starters: If you can tell us under whom you studied (if that is relevant to your poetry) and if you don't mind giving your date of birth, that information would help the article. Kdammers (talk) 07:49, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Ms. Cleary. We actually discourage editors from writing about themselves. That is considered a violation of our neutral point of view policy. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:46, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, although in this case if Ms. Cleary is able to push us in the direction of some useful information (from a good, neutral, reliable source etc. etc.) then I'd be happy to, and I'm sure Kdammers would be, to add it in. Kennedy (talk) 12:51, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
