Red links[change source]

@Auntof6: May I ask why red links are acceptable? MoS:Wikilinking states that links should be used to make an article helpful and lead to the correct page. If a page has not yet been created, why should a link be made to a page that isn't in existence? ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 01:45, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Of course you may ask! :) On this Wikipedia, we keep red links because they help us see what articles we're missing that are wanted by existing pages. At Special:WantedPages, we can see the pages that have the most red links: those are the ones that we'd benefit most by creating, so it's a good place to look when you want an idea for articles to create. We have so few articles compared to other Wikipedias that it is helpful to have this information. Does that make sense? --Auntof6 (talk) 02:44, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for explaining that for me! I figured there was a reason, so I thought I'd ask. :) ilovemusic (Talk To Me!) 22:26, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
