"is a machine" sounds like something mechanical. How about "is a device"?129.170.66.104 (talk) 00:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Device is not as simple as machine...Razorflame 00:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transformer[change source]

Why put "is a machine". By virtue any "xxxer" is a machine, e.g. counter, walker, speaker. We can assume if someone wants to know what a transformer is, they know it is not an animal or human, right, country, food, etc, right?

One could simply say: There are two types of transformers, electricity amplifier and electricity attenuator.

That's it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mars gulpi (talkcontribs)

Nowhere does the article say "is a machine". Protector of Wiki (talk) 20:58, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It was a great article and it has lots of information. You need to fix the problem about the weird text.--Dk138smsb (talk) 16:18, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

'The electromagnetism in a transformer is the energy source for the transformer'. NO![change source]

There doesn't seem to be an 'edit' button on the article. I'd like to remove that nonsense sentence I've quoted in the title. Electromagnetism is not a source of energy. The transformer does not have a source of energy in it. 'Energy' is one of those physics topics that's easy to get wrong, and having this nonsense in the public domain doesn't help. The sentence could be changed to 'Energy is moved from the primary to the secondary by electromagnetism', or something similar Apostrostomper (talk) 16:00, 2 March 2017 (UTC) When did 'edit' become 'change source'?? Eventually you fixed it, thanks. Wikipedia:VisualEditor is not uniformly available, better to set your Prefernces for both editors. VE is not applied in talk pages because there's a plan for a third editor which will be lovely some day, they say. Jim.henderson (talk) 00:20, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
