Preamble[change source]

@Ddbtek: What does the stuff in parentheses have to do with the preamble to the constitution?

They were afraid Congress might try to end Slavery or the Slave trade. (Actually they did not want to pay federally mandated income tax. Lincoln actually wrote in a letter to the south that they could keep slavery where it exists but not expand it if they would end the secession.)

The article contained some text which reads like a discussion that belongs on the talk page, so I removed it from the main article and put it below.
