Abkhazia is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Abkhazia and Georgia. The Republic of Abkhazia unilaterally declared independence on 23 July 1992, but Georgia continues to claim it as part of its own sovereign territory. Abkhazia has received formal recognition as an independent state from 7 out of 193 United Nations member states, 2 of which have subsequently withdrawn their recognition.

Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

{{Abkhazia note}} was created analogously to {{Kosovo note}}, since, like Kosovo, Abkhazia's status should not be discussed every time Abkhazia is mentioned in an article that does not deal directly with the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict, while this information should still be available for interested readers.

Usage[change source]

Immediately after (i.e. without including any space) the first instance of "Abkhazia" in an article, add:

<ref group="note">{{Abkhazia note}}</ref>

At the end of the article, preferably in a section with the heading == Notes ==, add:

{{reflist|group="note"}}
