Purpose[change source]

This template provides a quick and easy method of directly linking to specific sections in Census in Australia, which is linked to from more than 4,500 predominantly Australian articles. In particular, the pop_year parameter of {{Infobox Australian place}} links to sections in Census in Australia dealing with specific census years.
