This template is for use as a shortcut for male birth (or other former) names appearing in articles. It additionally takes a single optional parameter, the birth name, creating a non-breaking space between the two words.

This may be used for any change of name, whether due to marriage or not, and may be followed by the full birth name, or by the birth surname only, when only the surname has changed.

There is a properly-spelled redirect to this template at {{né}}, but this template without the "é" character may be easier to type (depending on the keyboard layout used).
