The Andromeda Strain is a 1971 American science fiction thriller movie directed by Robert Wise and based on the 1969 novel of the same name by Michael Crichton. It stars Arthur Hill, James Olson, David Wayne, Paula Kelly, Kate Reid, George Mitchell and was distributed by Universal Pictures. It was nominated for 2 Academy Awards in 1972. With a few exceptions, the movie follows the book closely. It is about a team of scientists who investigate a deadly organism of extraterrestrial origin which has killed almost all the inhabitants of a remote village in New Mexico.
