The Whale is a 2022 American drama movie directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Samuel D. Hunter. It is based on Hunter's 2012 play of the same name. It stars Brendan Fraser, Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton.

The movie is about a depressed English teacher with obesity who tries to fix his relationship with his teenage daughter.[5]

The Whale was released on December 21, 2022 by A24. The movie was controversial for its portrayal of obese people, however Fraser's and Chau's performances had positive reviews, both of which would earn nominations for an Academy Award.
