Thomas J. "Tom" Murphy Jr. (born August 15, 1944) is an American politician. He was a Democratic politician from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was in state government in two terms, from 1979 to 1982 representing the 17th district, and from 1983 to 1993 representing the 20th district.

From January 1994 until January 2006 he served as Mayor of Pittsburgh.
