Thomas M. Tunney (born August 22, 1955) is an American entrepreneur and politician. He was an alderman on the Chicago City Council from 2003 to 2023. He represented the prominent 44th Ward of the city.

Tunney thought about running for mayor in 2019,[1] but did not and endorsed Lori Lightfoot.[2][3]

In May 2019, Mayor Lightfoot picked Tunney as Vice Mayor.[4]

Tunney was the first openly gay Chicago Alderman.[5][6]
