Tony Gonzalez (born February 27, 1976) is a former American football player. He played in the National Football League (NFL). He played for 17 years.

He was born in Torrance, California. He went to Huntington Beach High School. He went to the University of California, Berkeley. He played both football and basketball in college.[3]

Early life and career

He was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1997 NFL Draft. He played for the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. Then he played for the Atlanta Falcons from 2009 to 2013.[4][5]

He played as a tight end. He wore number 88. He was very good and made many records. He was picked for the Pro Bowl 14 times. He was named All-Pro 6 times. He scored 111 touchdowns. He has the most catches and yards for a tight end in NFL history.[6]

He stopped playing football in 2013. After that, he worked on TV as a football expert. He worked for CBS Sports, Fox Sports, and Amazon.[7][8]

Tony Gonzalez was put in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.[9]

He has a son with Lauren Sanchez. They take care of their son together.[10]
