"Toxic" is the a song by American singer Britney Spears, taken as the second single from her fourth studio album In the Zone. It was originally written for Australian singer Kylie Minogue, who turned down recording it. It reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 and went to #1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, Norway, and on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Club Play and Mainstream Top 40/Pop Songs airplay charts.

In 2006, the song was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.[1]
