The University of Connecticut or sometimes referred to as UCONN for short is a public university in Storrs and Mansfield, Connecticut. The university has about 28,677 students. It was founded in 1881. The current president of the university is Dr. Philip E. Austin.

Sports[change | change source]

The athletics teams of the university are called the Huskies. They have 20 varsity teams, most of which compete in the American Athletic Conference. The UConn ice hockey teams play in other conferences—men in Atlantic Hockey, and women in Hockey East. The men's hockey team will join the women in Hockey East starting in 2014–15.
