Urban-type settlement

Urban-type settlement[note 1] is a name for a semi-urban settlement (suburb) used in many Eastern European countries. The name was historically used in Bulgaria, Poland, and the Soviet Union. Today, it is used in many post-Soviet states: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia,Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
