Uri Orlev

Uri Orlev (Hebrew: אורי אורלב; 24 February 1931 – 26 July 2022) was a Polish-born Israeli children's writer and translator. He won the international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1996. Orlev was born in Warsaw, Poland. He was known for his 1981 book The Island on Bird Street.

Orlev died on 26 July 2022 in Jerusalem, Israel at the age of 91.[1]
