Umesh Perera (born 29 December 1971) is a former Sri Lanka cricket player (Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket team), entrepreneur and founder of Ayozat.[1][2]

Umesh Perera was born on December 29, 1971 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. His family moved to the UK at an early age. He attended St. Columba's College, St. Albans.

Later, Umesh Perera studied engineering and computing at De Montfort and Middlesex University. He started inventing from the age of 14, then worked for the Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD Unix) and Hadoop projects.[3]

During the Kosovo War Umesh Perera together with Microsoft helped to develop the system that identified refugees for UNHCR, later used in the Rwandan crisis.
