10wikiweeks[change | change source]

I began this article at the beginning of this month while I was in Bulgaria, visiting a colleague who is a mathematician. She is also, coincidentally, the creator of the 100wikidays challenge. And she has long encouraged me to return to article writing. I chose this topic after much deliberation about what to write next. In the beginning, I thought it best to focus on the article topics of the highest need. So I worked on redlinks on the Basic English combined wordlist (BE 1500). But, to be honest, I lost interest in it. It was challenging, but uninspiring. This article appears on the list Wikipedia:List of articles all languages should have/Expanded in the Philosophy and religion section. So it fills a need for sure. That said, a philosophy article was no less challenging than a basic word list topic -- much more so, in fact! Case in point: the word 'science' is on , but the words 'philosophy' and 'mathematics' are not. Needless to say, I quickly realized that I was probably in over my head. My attempt to get my mind around the concept led me down a rabbit hole of browser tabs, from to Sir Isaac Newton himself. This stuff is dense. Nevertheless, I believe the attempt was worthwhile and the result is decent. Yet still, this question remains: what should I write about next?? I madly envy my fellow Wikipedians who are fluent in other languages and able to translate articles so seemingly effortlessly. Though, in a sense, that's what writing in Simple English is, too. And it's not easy at all! Though, now it's less a worry about how and more a matter of what and how well. It feels like what I write about should next be significant, important, even epic. And I'm always aiming for a good article and a very good article. No pressure. I wish I knew what content would help the most. Alas, the answer escapes me. Which means I'm not contributing as much as I could be. And I think that's unfortunate. Msannakoval (talk) 16:32, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

An offline editing meetup today brought back to this challenge. I've pledged to my wiki mentor that I will complete my 10 articles during this calendar year. At the rate that I'm going, time is quickly running out. So, here comes the next one. Another county. Amador. Because I like it. But first, fixed a discrepancy between simple:w:List of counties in California and and en:w:Amador County, California per the reference in the notes section on the list pages.
