Liam.gloucester[change | change source]

Hi, I've just blocked Liam.gloucester for 3 days for those Col. Sanders comments, and also earlier vandalism to Christianity. He knows that comments like that are not appropriate, and I don't think we should be wasting our time clearing up stuff like that. Thanks, Archer7 - talk 15:02, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

I personally think that a block has been a long time coming, but I've been hesitant to block because of the response Browne34 received when he blocked him earlier this week. I think you did the right thing. If he can't behave when he comes back, he'll just earn himself a longer block. I think the community has certainly been plenty patient with him. · Tygartl1·talk· 15:16, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes. I cancelled the block last time so that I could have chance to discuss his behaviour with him, but that simply didn't work and he continued to cause problems. I hope he returns after the three days with some constructive edits. Billz (Talk) 15:18, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Barnstar[change | change source]

Barnstar Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

Tygartl1, I award you this barnstar for making valuable edits everywhere on the Simple English Wikipædia. People like you should be in the en.wiki, so thank you for helping to build an online encyclopædia. j. rand

Images[change | change source]

Hi i was just wondering if you could find images to put into the articles of Kelly Ripa, Jade Goody and Charley Uchea?--Sinbad 19:50, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

I checked Wikimedia Commons for any pictures for these people and there were none. I do not have an account at Commons and do not know enough about image copyright to feel comfortable adding a picture from the internet. You can request a picture here. Sorry I could not help you more. · Tygartl1·talk· 20:27, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

E-mail?[change | change source]

Why does Wikipedia want my e-mail address? Is it to update me on what they're doing, advertise or what? Thanks, --Jessicagirl 20:28, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

user 10acne has is name of a website and i'm not sure if policy's here are the same as wikipedia but over there that would not be allowed so I'm telling you since there's no user names for administritor attention. He also spamming. Oysterguitarist 03:00, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have blocked the user but have allowed him or her to create a new account so s/he may hopefully contribute productively here in the future. · Tygartl1·talk· 03:21, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks[change | change source]

Thanks for the recent edits you did to my articles! It helps me understand better how to write articles.
Just one thing: what is that block of text you put at the bottom of the articles that doesn't show up?

(bg: Ялтенска конференция

ca:Conferència de Ialta

cs:Jaltská konference)

Is it for different languages? If so, should I put it at the end of every one of my articles?
Thanks

Re:Hurricane Alicia[change | change source]

Well I just copyed-and-pasted all the info from en wiki because my internet modem accidentally cut itself from cyberspace. Anyhow, I probably would go back and simplify it although the job is open to anyone who could help though. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 19:44, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

What-another-mole![change | change source]

Hi! Go to User:Huji/monobook.js please. You only need parts of it, if you only want the wack-a-mole without a Google link. However, the rest of it is GFDL as well, and you can use it ;)

In case you had any questions, please let me know. This includes if you couldn't figure how to change from Wanted pages to Wanted categories, or how to add another link - Huji reply 14:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

VG article[change | change source]

Hello, I was wondering if you could have a quick glance at the page Jimi Hendrix. It is a proposed very good article and since, me and Eptalon have made some changes and I think that it could get that glowing "VERY GOOD" stamp on the top of it.
If you think it worthy of this honour, please vote and maybe it will appear on the Simple Wiki front page along with Caffeine and Justin Timberlake! If not, I'll just edit more until it (hopefully) does.
Thanks

Userpage[change | change source]

Hello, Tygartl1! For my userpage, I copy-pasted from your userpage. I changed the border colors and image, but I just wanted to make sure it is alright with you if I use it for my userpage. The design can be found here. I won't use it on my actual userpage until you reply. Thanks! -Isis§(talk) 16:19, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Absolutely. I don't think it looks very much like mine at all but thank you for asking. I'm sure you can tell that mine is orignally stolen from the main page, anyway, so I don't think I can take too much credit for how it looks. :-) · Tygartl1·talk· 16:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, again. I've applied the changes. :) --Isis§(talk) 17:38, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Alyson, I faced the same bug once before (about a different image though) and it was related to some caching problems (on Wikimedia's side, I reckon). I'll report this one too. - Huji reply 20:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

SP[change | change source]

As it turns out that User:David_g. is an SP, and is used for double-voting, aren't we supposed to block it indefinitely, per WP:SOCK (actually en:WP:SOCK)? - Huji reply 05:38, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes. As I'm sure you've probably noticed, Archer7 has taken care of indef-blocking the account. As it was, I had enough time to cancel the votes and then was busy in real life and forgot to come back and block. · Tygartl1·talk· 14:23, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Re:I'm confused[change | change source]

From Snake311's talk page: Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand the purpose of having both Wikipedia:Very good articles and Wikipedia:Good articles. What's the difference? Why do we need both? · Tygartl1·talk· 19:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Very good articles mean articles that are the best work from this wiki. Wikipedia:Good articles (i'm not done with it) mean articles that pass the requirements for it to be a good article, but not the best articles in this wiki. In en wiki, I've noticed that they both have en:Wikipedia:Featured articles and en:Wikipedia:Good articles. I know that the term "very good article" dosen't sound the same as "featured articles" but this wiki uses only simple english, so probably a 6 year-old wouldn't know what the word "featured" means. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 19:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and for more info, see en:Wikipedia:What is a good article?, en:Wikipedia:Featured article criteria, and en:Wikipedia:Compare Criteria Good v. Featured. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 19:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
From Snake311's talk page:My next obvious question then is: shouldn't this have been discussed with the community before being put into place? Was this posted somewhere I didn't see? As someone who has been a key player in the VG article process, I would have liked to have a say in this. I'm not convinced it's necessary... · Tygartl1·talk· 19:32, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Me and Eptalon had a small discussion regarding about VGAs, GAs, and assessment scales and he approved me to go for it, although I think that only a few active users are involved with such VGA and GA business, i.e me, Eptalon, Isis, Huji, Gwib, RaNdOm26, etc., Anyhow if you wish, you could probably post up a discussion about good articles if you want to. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 19:41, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually, since you are the one who is pursuing it, shouldn't you have posted a discussion beforehand? "A small discussion with Eptalon" hardly counts as "approval" to go ahead and instate a whole new policy for the entire community. I think you should put the process on hold while this is under discussion. I'm all for being bold, but you are proposing an entirely new process for articles to go through. Just because you claim "only a few active users are involved", does not mean that it doesn't affect the entire community. · Tygartl1·talk· 20:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
*sigh* I didn't say I'm starting a whole new policy, I just said I'm starting a new category for good articles like in en wiki. But I think I'll put it to a hold for a while so you can start your open discussion if you want. --§ Snake311 (T + C) 20:20, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, it would require a new process for articles. Anyways, I have begun a discussion on Simple talk. I hope you will share some more details about what all this involves since I am unclear. Thanks. (P.S. I hope you don't think I'm coming down on you. It's just sort of sudden and I don't know much about it.) · Tygartl1·talk· 20:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Philip Kindred Dick[change | change source]

As you can see I am in the process of simplifying. The article will be simple enough for this Wiki, when I quit editing today. It will also be noticeably shorter, probably. --Eptalon 22:40, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

The article Philip K. Dick still looks quite a bit like the EnWP one. I have spent quite a few revisions simplifying it. I have also taken out things I feel are not needed at the moment. There are still too many red-links for my liking. At 14kb the article is currently at about a third of the EnWP one. I need to work on bringing the film adaptations back in again; the category:Writers may also be too broad. Still quite a bit of work. My project for the next few days (other than picking on the CfA discussion). If you feel that I have not delivered on my promise, please go ahead and delete the article. --Eptalon 23:34, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, I think that you're doing a brilliant thing in tackling and recording the problems people have with our current criteria and if repeating myself can help you out in any way, I'm glad to do it!

HujiBot[change | change source]

Hi! I'm back! Sorry for the delay in replying to what you wrote here. I guess, that is either because most of the bots were flagged before you became active here, or because you previously didn't look into "recent changes" as much as you do now, or a combination of them and some other factors I couldn't guess. Anyways, as HujiBot is flagged, you won't see it anymore, unless you want to. Best - Huji reply 09:16, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Gosh, dear Tygart, I feel silly - how could I have forgotten such an obvious thing? :( Thank you so very much for correcting my faux pas! :) I owe you! Btw, while I'm here, I'd like to tell you that i've been reading your great work at Midwestern United States, and if you allow me, I'd be happy to have a go at it to copyedit it a little, and maybe in a couple of days it could be ready to be reconsidered for moving it to the voting stage. Do I have your permission? Have a beautiful weekend, Phaedriel - 16:21, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Can you delete my pages[change | change source]

I thought since they were copyvio they are no more viable pages. You can ban me also. Haha, that is partly a joke. But the pages, I wrote were by mistake copyvio and moreso since many editors don't like it, I ask them to be removed.

Take care

Terminator 2[change | change source]

Hi, so you like T2? Anyway I made that article today and I am wondering is it a good article and fit for Simple English Wikipedia? Because all I done was copy it from the normal Wikipedia and changed a few words. — This unsigned comment was added by TomRed (talk • contribs).

Diacritics[change | change source]

Well, first I must point out that I have already agreed not to correct anymore misspellings of this sort, even though I consider the opposing argument completely incorrect and quite simply bizarre. When I find time, I will bring up a discussion concerning this in an attempt to make diacritics acceptable here. Though I totally disagree with your action, I accept it and will move to covince the community to overrule it, rather than taking matters into my own hands. Thank you. -Ionius Mundus 01:13, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

User:Loveless[change | change source]

Should this bot be running, it's running with admin powers(See here), and could you also take a look at my post at WP:AN, thanks. Oysterguitarist 02:29, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

First of all, sorry for the delay in my reply. As you may have noticed, I was on a real-life and wiki-break :-) Regarding Loveless, it seems that the bot's owner, fr:user:Darkoneko, had to block this user who was spamming on 50+ wikis. He gave his bot temporary sysop privileges because he doesn't have a user account on the various language wikis that were spammed. For more info on this incident, see here.
Regarding your post on the Admin noticeboard, it seems that things have quieted down on that page in the last few days but I will keep an eye on it. · Tygartl1·talk· 18:49, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Dear Tygart[change | change source]

Dear Tygart, well, it appears that Snake moved your article to the voting stage before I could actually get to work on it! :) This is great news, and I'll still polish a few minor things myself before supporting it. By the way, I know very well this is Wiki... but hey, a tiny gesture of courtesy doesn't hurt ;)
Unrelated sidenote: we've had serious trouble last night with the editor who changed many articles' titles to foreign spelling. I suggest you check his contributions and talk page, as well as Sean William's, Blockinblox's and mine. Have a beautiful day! :) Love, Phaedriel - 09:42, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your suggestion and for keeping me posted on the Midwestern United States. I have read up on what happened after I left for the night. Because I was gone for a few days, it looks like the situation has been mostly cleared up since then and I am glad to see that there is a discussion on Simple talk about what to do in the future if a similar situation arises. · Tygartl1·talk· 18:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Dear Tygart[change | change source]

Smile a little, smile a little, all along the road;
Every life must have its burden, every heart its load.
Why sit down in gloom and darkness with your grief to sup?
As you drink Fate's bitter tonic, smile across the cup.

Smile upon the troubled pilgrims whom you pass and meet;
Frowns are thorns, and smiles are blossoms, oft for weary feet.
Do not make the way seem harder by a sullen face;
Smile a little, smile a little, brighten up the place.

Smile upon your undone labour; not for one who grieves
O'er his task waits wealth or glory; he who smiles achieves.
Though you meet with loss and sorrow in the passing years,
Smile a little, smile a little... even through your tears!

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Please, don't stress yourself, nor feel bad, dear Tygart.
You're doing excellent work, and you're by far one of our best.
Keep it up, smile, and know we all stand by you! :)

I have done a copyedit and have made the language quite a bit simpler. I have removed the {{complex}} tag but have replaced it with a {{NPOV}} tag. The English version has a similar tag and the tone here appears to also show the dispute from one side more than the other. If you are able, I would encourage you to help make the article more neutral. I hope you have found my edits to be helpful. · Tygartl1·talk· 18:33, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your work! Just one thing! Off course if you can help me to make it more neutral Ill be seriously glad! But pls dont add NPOV without asking what sources marks this article is not neutral. English Wiki is different project with its own discussions and if you find there anything useful for neutrality, Ill accept it. I didnt delete NPOV from English wiki as 2 persons asked there arent reliable sources and Im waiting for their answer in discussion nothing more.
