JO1 is a Japanese idol group that debuted on March 4, 2020 with "PROTOSTAR". The group was formed by 11 successful applicants of the audition program "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN. Affiliation is LAPONE Entertainment, a joint venture between Yoshimoto Kogyo and CJ ENM, a Korean entertainment company.

Survival Audition Program

“Produce 101 Japan” released in 2020. The program is the Japan version of the Korean survival audition program “Produce 101” series. At the beginning of the program, 101 trainees were selected, and 11 trainees finally selected by the vote of the Japanese people called “national producers” made their debut as a global boy group on March 4, 2020.

Through “Produce 101 Japan” JO1 members were selected by audiences called “national producers”.

Members

JO1 consists of 11 members who have a variety of backgrounds because before the audition they were ordinary people.

Sho Yonashiro is the oldest member in the group and in charge of leader and vocalist. The debut ranking was 11th.

Ren Kawashiri is in charge of the main dancer. Before the audition he worked as a back dancer of famous Japanese and Korean artists. And now he supports improvement of performance as dance leader. He performed as the center position in the theme song "Tsukame-It's coming-" released before the program broadcast. The debut ranking was 2nd.

Isse Mamehara is the youngest member in the group. He started dancing at the age of three and, despite being a high school student, taught dance to children at a local dance school. In the last audition program he ranked 1st place. The debut ranking was 1st.

Junki Kono is in charge of the main vocal. Before the audition he was a university student and job-hunting student.

Ruki Shiroiwa is in charge of the rapper. Before the audition he was in the other idol group. He is said by fans to be like a real prince. 　

Takumi Kawanishi is in charge of the visual member. He worked as a buggy engineer. Although he had no experience in singing or dancing, he was selected as the 3rd place in the final ranking due to his innate sense and effort.

Keigo Sato worked as a hairdresser before the audition.

Shion Tsurubo is in charge of the rapper. He dropped out of high school before the audition and was a trainee in Korea. He is the tallest in the group and has a model-like style

Shosei Oohira is in charge of the dancer and the rapper. He belongs to EXPG where Dance school run by EXILE and has experience of studying abroad in the United States for dance and performing as a back dancer.

Shoya Kimata is in charge of the rapper. He was a fashion student before the audition.

Sukai Kinjyo is in charge of the vocalist. He had no experience in singing or dancing.
