Simplifying

Please be careful not to change meaning when you make changes to simplify text here. Some of the the changes you made to Criticism of Wikipedia and 2013 were good. However, I reverted them because some of what you changed made the meaning different, some of your changes added language that was too colloquial, and one or two actually made the text more complex by making sentences longer. Here are some examples:

• You changed "flooding occurs in Central Europe, affecting parts of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland" to "flooding occurs in Central Europe, parts of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland". The part of that sentence that lists the countries is explaining which parts of central Europe were affected, but the change you made makes it seem that they are areas in addition to central Europe.
• You changed "The world's oldest-recorded man" to "The world's oldest man that we ever knew". We don't want first-person language ("I" or "we") in the articles here.
• You changed "causing major fog and disruption" to "causing huge fog and disruption". The word huge applies to physical things, not something like fog that isn't solid.
