I-League[change source]

I'm sorry, Arsenalkid. I've had to delete your page because it wasn't in simple English and looked almost identical to the version on the English Wikipedia. For reference, please have a look at How to write Simple English pages and How to copy from another Wikipedia. Any material you use from the English Wikipedia needs to be simplified and attributed to the original place of authorship (see Wikipedia:Transwiki attribution for how to do that). If you need any help, let me know. Osiris (talk) 03:37, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to work on translating it, I can restore it to your userspace. Osiris (talk) 03:50, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Under-23 football teams[change source]

Hi, Arsenalkid. Thanks for your work on the under-23 teams. I have a couple of questions about the category you created, [[:Category:International under-23 association football teams.

  • Do you plan to put more articles into this category? On Simple English Wikipedia, we like to see at least 3 to 5 articles in a category right away.
  • I wonder if the category should be called "National" instead of "International". Are these teams national teams for their respective countries? If so, even though there will be teams from different countries in the category, I think "National" would be better. What do you think?

Thanks again! --Auntof6 (talk) 05:35, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Structural strategy in football articles[change source]

May I respond to your question here at User talk:Auntof6/Archives/2012#List of football players?

I created Pune F.C. and List of Pune F.C. players. There is a good reason I created two lkinked articles instead of just one. One article is about the corporate entity, the group entity which exists across a span of seasons, the team. The other article focuses on the players whose individual efforts and contributions make history. In part, this underscores a structural distinction between the long-term goals of an encyclopedia article and the somewhat different goals of time-sensitive journalism. Do you know the idea that journalism is the "first draft of history"? Our Wikipedia project tries to be somewhat removed from that very close perspective. Do you see the difference?

I will defer to you, but there are lessons learned the hard way with articles about Japanese association football teams. Experience suggests that this strategy may help avoid problems in advance.

For example, please compare Kawasaki Frontale#Notable Achievement with List of Kawasaki Frontale players. Do you see the difference?

I wonder where is the best place to consolidate this discussion? Perhaps at List of Indian football teams? --Horeki (talk) 13:38, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The comment by Eptalon here caused me to try to expand the history section of Pune F.C.

Further research caused me to stumble across something that my interest you. I found an unexpected connection with Arsenal F.C.. According to Business Today, one of the club owners is Nandan Piramal, "who developed an interest in the game during his under-grad days in London—home to legendary English clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea ..." --Horeki (talk) 13:16, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. I wonder who he supported while there. I would guess Arsenal as he did choose Red in the end for Pune. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 18:00, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Statistic tables[change source]

In tables, please consider the possible good reasons for putting the season date before the team name? As context, compare the tables at

In my opinion, the chronological order -- the season dates -- become increasingly important when the table shows the player's history with more than one team. For example, see Shinji Kagawa who recently joined Manchester United. --Horeki (talk) 21:23, 8 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Articles about teams at the Olympics[change source]

Please take a look at the small changes I made in India at the Olympics. The introduction and history sections are mirrored in other similar articles -- for example, see Australasia at the Olympics and Japan at the Olympics. What do you think? --Horeki (talk) 15:55, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to jump in here. In the Japan and India articles, the flags shown are for the countries, not for the Olympic team specifically. If the team doesn't have a separate flag, I don't see the need to show the flag in these articles. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:33, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
