vandalism

if there is no admins present and a user keeps vandalizing, what do we do? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 03:05, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just wait for an administrator. If you see an admin in New Changes, try and get their attention. rollingbarrels (talk) 03:09, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(change conflict) @Thegooduser: I think people have asked stewards for help in those situations. I don't remember ever contacting a steward myself, but I think there is usually one around at metawiki. If you would post this at Simple talk, someone with more knowledge/experience with it might see and respond. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:12, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Long Overdue

I feel that this is long overdue that I award you the Golden Wiki Award. You are the only editor that still stands with great leadership since I started here eight years ago. You are still giving me feedback on my edits to congratulating me on my article creations spanning from day one to today. I would be very dull for me to say that you are a dear Wikifriend of my so I'll expand on it. You stood by my side with such patience when I started writing my first articles through solid feedback to a friendly reminder. You were there when I had some bullying issues from a certain editor to my milestone article creations. Literally everyday I see your user name on my watchlist either helping me expand one of my articles to simplifying them (my bad sometimes they slip out). I have no doubt in saying that you are a key backbone to this Wikipedia and many follow your example. I thank you deeply for your service to this Wikipedia and for helping me throughout these long years here at Simple English Wikipedia. Not a lot of these awards are given to editors like you, which makes it even more special when one gets one. It has been and continues to be an honor editing with you my Wikifriend.

Best regards from the Windy City: --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 13:03, 6 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

article has major problems

Hello, The entry "Bilal Orfali" has major problems, It was updated several times, but one administrator "Praxidicae" has reverted to the older version and is blocking any change. This person is mean and deleted any requests related to this page for no reason. His comments on all inquiries on his talk page are impolite. I am making a draft article here, not sure if it is notable enough though. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:47, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Thegooduser: Geographic features are considered notable just because they exist. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:58, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
So I can go ahead and publish it? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:58, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Thegooduser: Well, it needs some work. It needs wikifying, formatting, categories, and a hardcoded reference section. An image would be good, too, if Commons has one. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:52, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If I create and fix it up after, is that okay? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 23:31, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Thegooduser: That would be my second choice, as long as you fixed it up right away. Fixing it in your userspace would be better, because then the article would be in good shape as soon as it's in mainspace. Any reason you can't do it that way? --Auntof6 (talk) 23:35, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, could you please tell me who created Dark Leg / Dark Punk? I req'd a bulk deletion on wikidata, but one sock seems to be missing. Cheers, --Achim55 (talk) 21:39, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Achim55: It was an IP. I see that your Wikidata request relates to a registered user. I'm afraid that if I give you the specific IP, that might connect it to the registered user, which isn't allowed. Therefore, I don't want to give it. You might ask one of the admins who have the checkuser right if they think it would be OK to give you the IP. --Auntof6 (talk) 23:30, 24 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

How would someone type Free State (South African province)? Would they not just type Free state? If there is a need to disambiguate, then would their not need to be a disambiguation page? -- Amanda (aka DQ) 02:15, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DeltaQuad: Someone might not type that whole string, but there are other meanings of "free state": see the enwiki disambiguation page. en:Free state. There are incoming links to the redirect, and redirects are cheap, so there's no harm in keeping it. Feel free to create a disambiguation page if you like, or someone else -- even me! -- might create one after seeing this discussion. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:33, 1 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User page

Hi. You have declined my qd request, but I have valid reasons to convince you do delete it:

  1. I have no access to that account, that's why I requested it from this account.
  2. I am a global trusted user, so there shouldn't be any major issue with me requesting it.
  3. Its qd request has been approved on eswiki and enwiki without any issues.

In case you doubt that I didn't create that account, both accounts share similar data. You can ask Vermont and he can tell you that I am from Panama, which is shown on that account. I hope you can understand it. I am not some random person who just has requested an user page to be deleted, and common sense should be applied here (again, I cannot access that account).

Thank you. Esteban16 (talk) 01:14, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh you are asking on whether you should link a wikiproject. I should have known based on section title. You know I am not sure. Our wikiprojects aren't really official so I might lean towards no. But I don't really see any reason you couldn't either. You just might want to make sure there isn't one here already. -DJSasso (talk) 20:41, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since our WikiProjects are in userspace, they probably shouldn't be linked via Wikidata. Putting hardcoded interwiki links on our page would work, but:

  • Our WikiProjects aren't equivalent to the ones on other sites because they aren't official and don't have the same scope or authority.
  • The corresponding WikiProjects on other sites probably wouldn't accept hardcoded interwiki links on their pages.

So I think you could link them here, but maybe adding a link to the Wikidata page would be a good way to do it. That way you wouldn't have to maintain the list. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:59, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Covid 19 concerns

Have you been affected by the Covid 19 virus? I'm worried some Wikipedia editors might have been affected by the Covid 19 virus. In Cedar Rapids where I am from, I constantly check my mom, my girlfriend and my sisters due to the Covid 19 crisis. Angela Maureen (talk) 01:38, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tropical Storm Angela: If you're asking if I've gotten sick, the answer is no. I do know of one editor who was diagnosed with the virus (but it's not my place to say who it is). I have been affected by the virus in the sense that my state (California) and local area (San Francisco Bay Area) have implemented shelter-in-place requirements, so I've been staying at home except for grocery store trips and one other thing I had to do. They recently announced that the restrictions were being extended through the end of May. The only thing I really miss is my volunteer job. How about you? --Auntof6 (talk) 09:51, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hello, I don't believe I have met you before. However, I noticed that you tagged Yuvraj Raghuvanshi for deletion (not requests for deletion, but the regular quick deletion, which functions like a tag system). May I ask, if you are an admin, why you did not simply just delete the page instead of tagging it? I don't mean this as an accusation, or an implication that you did something wrong, just simply asking as I want to understand whats going on. Naleksuh (talk) 17:29, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Naleksuh: No problem, I'm happy to explain. It was because I thought the article didn't show notability, but I wanted a second opinion from another admin. Therefore, I tagged it instead of just doing a quick delete myself. As you may have seen, another admin did indeed disagree, and an RFD was started. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:57, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comment you made on wp:an

Hi! This is regarding a comment you made to me on WP:AN, a while back under the section of archive 57 "Protection Request", while I did not intend to be disruptive on AN, and I know you did not intend to be rude in your comment on AN, you commented to me saying "...If people are making a request or asking a question here, it usually means that they want an answer from, you know, an actual admin." I found the part of the comment "from, you know, an actual admin" quite rude towards me, I would have liked it to say "from an admin instead" instead of the comment you made. While archives can't be changed, I just wanted to let you know about this, Please note that this has nothing to do with me attacking you, as stated on my talk page edit notice I will treat you with respect no matter what :). Thanks. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 15:29, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Thegooduser: I'm sorry it came across that way. My intent was to soften what I was saying by saying it in a less formal way, in a way I intended to be a bit humorous. Would it have helped if I had added a smile emoticon? It's very hard to get tone of voice in this kind of communication. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:27, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you add the smiley emoticon it would help me a lot in the future (so I know it's humor), also as mentioned in my talk page I'm Autistic and I have a really hard time figuring out if people are joking or not (in real life and in messages) and I do apologise in advance if I ask you if you are joking or not (as it may be an obvious joke to everyone else but me and I ask) in any messages you may have for me in the future. Thank You! On a different note I have a question about adding something to the Abuse Filter/Spam Blacklist --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:34, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your reversion

My edits were not vandalism. I was simply reverting a grammar issue. 209.126.65.158 (talk) 04:10, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits had nothing to do with grammar. On Wikipedia, transgender people are referred to using pronouns appropriate to their stated gender. Therefore, Caitlyn Jenner is female and feminine pronouns should be used when referring to her, even when talking about the part of her life when she was known as Bruce. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:10, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IP communication

The IP you have been talking to about checkusers and such is an LTA (has been vandalisng random pages with "PAGENAME has been vandalised" for a while) and really isn't worth wasting any admin's time. Might be worth revoking tp access, although that is at the discretion of admins. Just letting you know in case you weren't aware. It's possible their claims about another user may be legitimate, but that person is effectively banned as an LTA. IWI (chat) 19:57, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A Possible Grammatical Mistake

Hello there. I was reading the simple English Wikipedia page on the topic of "Electricity" and on the 2nd line of the 3rd paragraph, I noticed a grammatical mistake. I personally find it a lot easier than what’s already there, but that’s just me. (I edit from a phone though, so it’s almost impossible for me to copy-paste plain text. I have to be in edit mode.) Let me know what you think, --sithjarjar666 (my profile | my contribs | speak to me) 20:34, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@SithJarJar666: The script you added is a user script. It's not good to reference user code in official pages, because there's no control over maintaining it. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:09, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarifying your reasoning. I will note that when someone reverts an edit I make and I ask why, it’s not really because I’m mad about the revert, it’s because I wish to know their reasoning for the revert... --sithjarjar666 (my profile | my contribs | speak to me) 21:11, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@SithJarJar666: No problem. I'm always happy to explain the reason for my edits. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:13, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for that, I just wanted to make my input. IWI (chat) 09:06, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Would there be any objection to moving this page into Wikipedia space? (as essay, not policy). It seems to be causing many problems and not being allowed to be linked to by being in userpspace 162.248.93.173 (talk) 18:07, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Auntof6, this user Ngozikal7 keeps on doing the same repetitive vandalism on Deaths in 2020, Ernest Angley and other articles (take a look at his changes) and he has already received a final warning message prior to his continued vandalism to Deaths in 2020. VIP report

In reference to the VIP report you declined, I thought the death threat made it serious enough to give a final warning. IWI (chat) 16:33, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: You gave an only warning, not a final warning. When there's something that serious in a user's change, it's helpful if you specifically mention it. Otherwise the admin may just look at the timing of warnings. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:15, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question, I know that the nominator is not allowed to move his own hooks to the queues. My question is, am I allowed to move my own hooks to the holding area. Some of the hooks have been approved and has not had any activity recently. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 07:42, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi please move to Main Article User:HSaurab/Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury HSaurab (talk) 05:25, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@HSaurab: That page is not ready to go to mainspace.
  • It should at least have categories that we use here (we don't have the same categories as English Wikipedia).
  • In some places, it refers to Ms. Chaudhury as "he".
  • It would also be good if it had appropriate internal links (links to other articles).
When the article is ready for mainspace, please make your request at WP:AN instead of on an individual admin's talk page. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:38, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AN

Auntof6, the user is blatantly WMF globally banned user Projects. All of his edits should be reverted. IWI (chat) 23:26, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Sorry for the late reply.
  • When leaving me (or anyone) a message like this, please include specifics so I can tell which user you are talking about.
  • Your first sentence isn't clear. It seems there might be a verb missing. What is it that the user is doing with user projects? Or have I misunderstood?
As for reverting all edits, I have never seen a policy stating that all of a globally banned (do you mean globally locked?) user's changes must be reverted. In many cases, some of such a user's changes are problems and some are not. If there is such a policy, I would be happy to have it pointed out to me and would follow it going forward. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:50, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: IWI is referring to en:User:Projects, a very well known sockpuppeteer. In this edit, you reinstated a post by the user which was rightfully reverted. There was no reason to reinstate the purely disruptive post. The relevant policy in this case is en:Wikipedia:Blocking_policy#Edits_by_and_on_behalf_of_blocked_editors, which shows that any edit made in violation of a block may be reverted. Of course, something such as changing wrong information to right information can be reinstated, as such a change could not knowingly be left anyway, however that is not the case for such like talkpage psots. Naleksuh (talk) 09:43, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The user is WMF globally banned. This means all edits should be reverted and all accounts locked. IWI (chat) 10:37, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ImprovedWikiImprovment: The policy Naleksuh cited says "Anyone is free to revert any edits made in violation of a block, without giving any further reason and without regard to the three-revert rule. This does not mean that edits must be reverted just because they were made by a blocked editor". That means the edits can be reverted, not that they should be. Do you perhaps have a different policy in mind, maybe one specific to globally locked accounts? --Auntof6 (talk) 11:33, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. The correct policy is meta:WMF Global Ban Policy. You can see here that Projects was globally banned by the Wikimedia Foundation in 2018, and therefore edits by him should be reverted in almost all cases, excluding typo fixes or anything that helps Wikipedia. Making false accusations on AN would not be considered one of these exceptions, and is actually one of the reasons he was globally banned. IWI (chat) 13:21, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is also further information that can be found on en:Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Projects. IWI (chat) 13:25, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Category question

Hi Auntof6, I hope you are well. I just have a quick question. On all of the UK Motorway articles that I created (such as M42 motorway or M62 motorway) I used the year establishment categories. I don't see a similar usage on other articles about highways, such as the Interstate Highways. Should this category be used? If so I will either add it to the US highway articles or if not I will remove it from the UK motorway articles. Thanks, IWI (chat) 18:41, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@ImprovedWikiImprovment: I don't think roads of any kind need establishment categories. Enwiki doesn't appear to categorize them that way. Besides, it would be hard to pick a year for some of them in cases where an interstate opened in segments over multiple years.
To me, the establishment categories get used for some types of things that don't really fit. Not everything that begins in a certain year can be said to have been "established" then. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:51, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
My thoughts were similar upon going through enwiki's usage. I'll go through them now. There are best part of a hundred articles, would flood flag be a good idea? IWI (chat) 18:59, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ImprovedWikiImprovment: Not if there are only the best part of a hundred. People might complain, but the rule of thumb I've always used is that there should be more than about 100 changes before the flood flag is considered. And
In that case please decline my AN request and I will get started on it shortly. IWI (chat) 20:02, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question about actions regarding LTAs

Hi, Auntof6! Hope you are doing well :) I don't mean to cause some type of offense or hate, but I have noticed a recurring pattern where you have reinstated and helped LTAs (1)(2)(3)(4) - per WP:AGF, I assume that you are not doing this on purpose, and want to calmly reason with you.
However, multiple editors have attempted to ask you what is going on with this multiple times before, and all requests for explanation have been ignored. I do want to ask if there is a particular reason this was ignored or such edits continue? Can anything more be commented? Naleksuh (talk) 23:34, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Naleksuh: Thanks for your question. I do not mind being asked to explain my edits.
Some general comments:
  • I do not intend to help LTAs, but I probably do not know how to recognize them as well as other admins here.
  • Some people revert all of the edits of an LTA or other problem editor. I do not. In cases where a mass revert has been done of a problem editor's changes, if I see an edit reverted that doesn't seem to be a problem in itself I will sometimes undo the revert.
Here are my comments about the changes you linked.
  1. This appeared to be a complaint from the IP user. I usually think it best to allow admins to decide the validity of complaints, especially on WP:AN. It can also be seen as a negative to delete a complaint about yourself, no matter how ill-founded the complaint may be.
  2. This was on my talk page. Looked at in isolation, it was simply a question to me and, as my edit summary said, didn't appear to me to be vandalism. I also prefer people to let me take care of vandalism on my own talk page, so that there can be no appearance of interference in communication with an admin (me).
  3. There were two parts to this change. The first one was where a second signature was added right after the legitimate one. I shouldn't have undone that one. The other part, where the user removed an entire section, was the part that I intended to put back.
  4. This was a talk page from user "VOTE FOR TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT". They had put "VOTE FOR TRUMP 2020" on it, and there was a QD request on the grounds that the page content was endorsing a candidate (which is not a standard QD criterion anyway). IMO, the content wasn't any more an endorsement that the user name itself. In cases of user talk pages where there's a QD request and there has never been any valid talk on the page, I sometimes delete the page and sometimes do what I did here (replace the page with the talk header). I would have no objection if another admin saw fit to delete the page instead.
I hope this explains my thinking. Feel free to ask if you have further questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:40, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't answer your other question. If I neglected to answer questions in the past, it was an oversight on my part. I am not as active as I used to be so it's possible some questions slipped by me. I do see one question above, and I will belatedly answer it now. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:45, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hello Auntof6. I also share some of the concerns outlined by Naleksuh. In relation to the "vote for Trump" account, it was indefinitley blocked and globally locked for long-term abuse. Eptalon actually hid the name of the account from the logs, which is what prompted me to file the QD request under G3.
I see that you aren't as familliar with LTAs as other editors and admins. My polite suggestion would be that if you see "LTA" in a requst to administrators, you should probably leave it to a different admin. There are a few admins like you that aren't familliar with LTAs, and they seem to leave such requests alone. I know sometimes, it may be difficult to tell. For example, it is not usual behaviour to remove someones AN notice, unless they are a WMF globally banned user. You, on at least one occasion, restored their comment. I can see why you would do this, but unfortunatley doing such things helps the LTA thrive, when what we want to do is WP:DENY. You are inadvertantly helping a banned user disrupt the project.
I hope these concerns can help you grow further and you can continue to serve this community as you have for a number of years. Yours, IWI (chat) 09:19, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ImprovedWikiImprovment: I do leave alone requests when I see that they are related to LTAs. None of the edits I reverted per Naleksuh's links above mentioned that they were related to LTAs, including your QD request. Note also that the user talk page that QD request was on was for a user who was blocked but who still had/has the ability to edit their talk page; in cases like that, it's reasonable to use the talk header instead of deleting because it puts the user on notice that they need to use the page properly. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:46, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the user was globally locked, so they could not edit their talk page. IWI (chat) 09:56, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, so they were. The place I checked didn't show their global status. I'll remember to check for that in the future. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 10:03, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Administrative assistance

Hi Auntof6,

I have received an email from a user requesting my assistance. I believe that I'm not experienced enough to take care of this situation yet. To protect this user's privacy, I will not reveal the username and contents of the email message. Instead, I will email you the message and tell the user that I have requested admin assistance on this matter. Thank you again for your service to this wiki. Interstellarity (talk) 23:52, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Auntof6,

@Interstellarity: I'm not sure how to proceed on this. Would you please address your concerns to the admins as a group instead of an individual admin? You can send email to simple-admins-l@lists.wikimedia.org or post at WP:AN. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:18, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6! I noticed you declined the QD of the above-linked page. I have since deleted it as it does meet the G12 criteria, which is not something we can permit to remain while under discussion if contested. Thank you, Vermont (talk) 17:03, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Vermont: Thanks for your note. My thinking was that any time someone brings over an article from enwiki to work on, it's going to be identical or nearly so for a time, until enough work is done on it. Are you saying that drafts in userspace should have attribution? We haven't even been consistent in making sure transwikied articles in mainspace have attribution. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:57, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well, in order to conform to the license of content on articles at the English Wikipedia, all uses of it need attribution regardless of the namespace or point of time in it's development. Vermont (talk) 18:32, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense. I've just never seen it applied that way. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:50, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Henry C. ("Cranke") Andrews

Hi. I added some information to Henry Charles Andrews, to explain, with proof, that the "C." in his name is Cranke, not Charles. The change to Cranke has made some time ago at the official International Plant Names Index.

  • I have no experience with Simple English space. I do not know if the text I added is too much for Simple English articles.
  • I included one reference - because I do not know how much detail should be included in Simple English wiki. A second reference is available at the en.wiki article.
  • I do not know to to move the article to Henry Cranke Andrews, as the move button does not appear at top of page.

If you want to tell me what to do, I will gladly do it - assuming it is less work for you to tell me than it is to just do it. (I am not trying to dodge the work.) Thank you, from an Uncleof6. Jmg38 (talk) 13:40, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion templates warning

Hello Auntof6, I noticed that on User talk:65.128.213.58, you added a warning telling the user to stop removing RfD templates. Did you make that template yourself or did you get it from somewhere? Because I've only been able to find the warning for removing QD templates, and I think a separate warning for RfD would be useful. Thanks. Naddruf (talk) 17:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Naddruf: I didn't use a template. I just wrote the message myself. I agree that such a template would be useful. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:22, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Would you be willing to let us use your wording? If so, I can make the template and add it to Wikipedia:User talk page warnings and the appropriate categories. Naddruf (talk) 18:52, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Naddruf: You can use my wording if you want: I wouldn't mind, and everything written on Wikipedia can be used, including things on talk pages. However, you might instead want to pattern it after the related QD wording. Also, I also don't know if this should be discussed: I imagine there needs to be some kind of control on adding templates to the warning system, and I don't remember seeing any new ones created before. I also don't see an equivalent on enwiki, so there may be some reason it wasn't created before. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:53, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is a whole series on enwiki, see en:Template:Uw-afd1. I'm pretty new to this wiki, and I know you've been around a long time, but from what I've seen at WP:Simple talk, changes like this are often done without a long process. People don't want to be bothered with the issues, they just want to see the end result. I was thinking of making it and then mentioning it on Simple Talk. Thanks. Myan not Mya

  • I am changing the text of Myan pages to use the adjectival "Myan" from "Mya" where some user had wrongly put it or changed it. My usage is the same as the En wiki usage. Would you please change the category from Mya people to Mayan people, and if necessary also the category of other pages where the word is adjectival. Thanks, Mac.
I'll correct myself before you get to read this. I see English wiki uses "Mya people" rather than "Myan people". That is eccentric, to say the least, because the same editors would use "American people" and British people" without a second thought. Anyway, their category is "Myan languages", so I win that one at least... Macdonald-ross (talk) 10:51, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Astro1995: The decision on what to do with the article will be made according to the discussion at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2020/Jonn poker. I will not interfere with that. I also don't think any kind of protection is needed -- unless the outcome of the discussion is that protection is needed to stop the article from being created, which I don't think is what you mean. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:16, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion Declined

Hi. Why did you restore this revision and didn't delete the page. Even if my QD rationale did not make sense (It did to me) or was the wrong QD one (Example if G6 was incorrect) there is no need for that page, and it's just a test page, of a message. This isn't the only QD you declined from me, and the other QD's from the past were valid too, even if it was a different rationale from what I put. I'm just asking why you did that, and I don't mean anything against you. Thank you. :) --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 02:07, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Thegooduser: The reason you gave was "created talk page is not of any use", which I don't consider a valid housekeeping reason. I also think that 1) the G6 option shouldn't be used as a catch-all and 2) people go after user and user talk pages too much. Maybe different users have different thresholds as far as what they'll tolerate on talk pages. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:32, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your decline of this QD. The building the Gherkin is called the Swiss Re Building officially (which I have now redirected). Swiss Re is a company from which the building gets its name, and so shouldn’t redirect to the Gherkin. You can see the enwiki article for more information. tone of Morton's toe

What was wrong with the tone of Morton's toe? You corrected it. Can you tell me? Angela Kate Maureen 05:48, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Tropical Storm Angela: It used second person ("you"). This issue is explained at Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Avoid second-person pronouns. The section after that, Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Avoid first-person pronouns and one, might also be of interest. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:10, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note

You shouldn't transclude an RFA to the request page that isn't your own (unless you were asked to by the party). Part of the process is for the user nominating themselves or accepting the nomination to do it themself as a way to show the Rfa is actually active. Just creating the page does not mean the Rfa is active. A user for example may create a request page and then decide not to run so don't actually put it on the request page. Not saying that was the case in this instance for sure. No way of knowing, but part of running for admin etc is having to put your own RfA on that page to indicate the request is live. -Djsasso (talk) 18:29, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Djsasso: Good point. Thanks for the reminder--Auntof6 (talk) 21:22, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't delete the user page of Himanshu Jaykar (musical artist)

May I request you not to delete this user page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Capturing the 1 (talkcontribs) 11:20, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Capturing the 1: When you don't want a page to be quickly deleted, you put the wait template on the article and put something on the article's talk page explaining why you think the article should be kept. The article has been deleted again, and it has also been salted so that only administrators can create it.
Also, please sign your posts by putting four tildes (~~~~) at the end. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 11:56, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey.. can you please remove Protect vandalism the page of Himanshu Jaykar (musical artist). Scissorabove (talk) 06:25, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Scissorabove: No, but I changed the expiration because it shouldn't have been indefinite. Be aware that I am watching the page, and if it is recreated without showing notability it will be deleted again. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:17, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh ok thanks. But can you please tell me about 'notability'? Scissorabove (talk) 14:43, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Scissorabove: You can read about it at WP:NOTABILITY. It would also be helpful tovread WP:RS. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:43, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of "Category:Senegalese communists" and "Category:Senegalese artists"

You deleted these categories with the reason "created with too few entries". I would like to know how many entries are required for a category to not be deleted. I would also like to know why there isn't a deletion process with warnings like there is for articles if you know that as well. DoSazunielle (talk) 13:43, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@DoSazunielle: This kind of category usually needs at least three entries. (By "this kind of category", I mean content categories; maintenance categories do not have this requirement.) This is documented at Wikipedia:Categories#Is there a need for the new category?. This does not mean that a category should be created when there are three entries that could go in it, just that that's the minimum.
If you're interested in other ways that Simple English Wikipedia is different from other Wikipedias, you might like to look at this informal list I maintain that mentions some of them. That list itself is not a guideline or policy, but it cites some relevant guidelines or policies. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:27, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Tropical Storm Angela I don't think it's a good idea to be asking people about this on wiki, everyone has different political views, and this might stir up disputes, etc. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:38, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Sahnil Bhatnagar

Respected Ma’am, I hope you are doing great. Some user just requested Deletion of Sahnil Bhatnagar just by saying "When searched on google, saw instagram link at first". This is not even a relevant answer as If you search for any actors, you'll find their social handle profiles. I have mentioned all the relevant links and added all google news. Kindly go through it and please close the request if possible. Thanks in advance for understanding my concern.

Best Regards, Swaraj Mishra Swarajmishra7 (talk) 11:17, 19 November 2020 (UTC)Swarajmishra7[reply]

@Swarajmishra7: That request will be handled just like any other request. You should post your comments on the discussion page, which I know you have already done. Also, please note:
  • Please do not list references on the discussion page. They go in the article.
  • I saw on the discussion page that several users who are new here asked for the article to be kept. Those users have never edited anything except that discussion. That looks like what we call canvassing, meaning that they were asked to support keeping the article. Canvassing is not allowed and those users' comments might not be considered.
If you have anything else to say about the article, please say it on the discussion page. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:23, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Respected Ma'am, I am really sorry for this mess for writing references on the discussion board and I completely appreciate whatever you have mentioned but I just want you to just go through all the articles of Sahnil Bhatnagar. I have noticed all his co-actors from the show have their profile too. I know actors are notable and its a request that you please go through all the articles including google search and take your final decision. I am sure you will take decision according to the article published because you are an Administrator. I respect your decision. Thank you! Best Regards Swarajmishra7

I Will Try not to create Vandalism

I Made a Decision to soon Be an Administrator Kat885 (talk) 19:29, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Kat885: If you want to be an administrator, you first need to show that you can contribute constructively here and cooperate with others. I haven't seen any sign of that. In fact, you've been pretty close to getting indefinitely blocked. I recommend not focusing on being an administrator. Instead, just try to make helpful edits and learn how things work on Wikipedia so that people would feel comfortable having you as an administrator. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:14, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
