Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi Aye, welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes.

If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'edit summary' whenever you change an article.

Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler.

If you make a short article please mark it with stub, our guideline is here: Stubs

Happy editing! Bärliner 12:34, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New articles[change source]

Hey there, Aye~simplewiki! Here are a few good ideas that you can use to help in the making of articles that you might do in the future:

 • If the article that you created is under 1,000 bytes, please add the stub template into the article near the end (below the Other websites, but above the interwikis (detailed below)). This will let other editors know that it is a short article that needs to be made bigger.
 • If you have no idea what categories an article that you create goes under, please include the uncat template to the article. This will let other editors know that you need help categorizing an article appropriately.
 • Please remember to include interwikis at the bottom of an article. This will enable users to go between the many different Wikipedias that are in existence to check information and possibly add new information to the article here. It's mostly a convenience thing.

Thanks for reading this long message, and happy editing here on Simple English Wikipedia! Razorflame 16:17, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice Razorflame, im new to wiki editing, and i dont know about many of these things, I will check up on all of these things, and learn from my mistakes, Thanks Again! --Aye (talk) 16:21, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem! Let me know if you need any more help on my talk page in the future, or if I'm not on, any other user's talk page. Razorflame 16:24, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, Aye, but the Simple English Wikipedia does not allow images to be uploaded. Thanks for trying to help the Simple English Wikipedia, though. Razorflame 16:25, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. Will not do-so in future --Aye (talk) 16:27, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

However, if they exist in the commons, then they can be used. Razorflame 16:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok Thanks. Keep correcting me, so i can become a valued member of the community! --Aye (talk) 16:29, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The website for the commons is (http://commons.wikimedia.org). You can browse the images there to see if you can find a suitable image for your article on software licenses. Razorflame 16:30, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To answer the question you posed on my talk page: You can use the syntax: . To add more information about the image, you can use this syntax (although it is optional): . This will insert the picture as a thumbnail on the left side of the article at 150 pixels with whatever caption you insert into it. You can also type in right instead of left to have it on the right side of the article. I hope this helps! Razorflame 16:47, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i just figured it out prior to your message, thanks! --Aye (talk) 16:47, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, just in case you didn't, it would still be a good idea to allow me to answer your question before removing what you asked of me on my talk page. Generally, it is not a good idea to remove something that you post to another user's talk page without waiting for a response. Razorflame 16:49, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you have an account on commons you can always upload images there first. Commons hasn strict rules about no copyright. The same rules we have here, so if it is accepted on commoons it will be OK here. No need to post the URL here, will automatically search commons for "example.jpg"--Bärliner 16:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry RazorFlame, and Thanks Barliner. I see i have a lot to learn... --Aye (talk) 17:03, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not trying to bite you, merely just giving you the advice that you need to succeed here on the Simple English Wikipedia, which is what I want you to do. I want to see you succeed, and you will, eventually, over time. Razorflame 17:31, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming users[change source]

Thank you for trying to welcome a user. I have moved your welcome from their userpage to their user talk page, as this is where welcomes should go. Razorflame 17:31, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thanks, I forgot to click talk not user page, Thanks again. --Aye (talk) 17:31, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings[change source]

Here are a list of warnings that we use here on the Simple English Wikipedia:

 • test1 First level warning for general vandalism.
 • test2 Second level warning for general vandalism.
 • test3 Third level warning for general vandalism.
 • test4 Final level warning for general vandalism.
 • test5 A blocked template. Should be used by an administrator just before a block.

Removing content warnings

 • test2a First level warning for removing content.
 • test3a Second level warning for removing content.
 • test4 Same one as listed above, but can also be used as a final warning for removing content.

Test article warnings

I hope to see you continue to help us revert vandalism here on the Simple English Wikipedia! I'm giving you this list of warnings so that when you revert vandalism, you can always warn the user afterwords. I know that you are new to Wikipedia, so I thought that I would give you the list of the warnings that we use here on the Simple English Wikipedia so that you can start warning vandals about their vandalizing changes.

To use these warnings, just type in, for examples:

General warning: ~~~~. This can also be written as ~~~~, although this isn't required.

For the other warnings, you can just type in, for example, ~~~~ for a removing content warning, or ~~~~ for a test article.

I hope that this little guide was helpful in your quest to warn vandals, and I hope to see you warn many vandals in the future.

Just a note: Whenever you warn a user, don't forget to type in the subst: before the actual warning, like this: ~~~~ Enjoy! Razorflame 17:11, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Razorflame, will help me in future. --Aye (talk) 19:37, 15 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage[change source]

Hey there Aye~simplewiki! I noticed your userpage is a red link, and I am encouraging you to create your userpage so that it isn't a red link anymore. Please consider this. Razorflame 19:50, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get onto it. --Aye (talk) 00:06, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
