Welcome[change source]

Hello! I'm assuming you've popped over from the English Wikipedia, so you're probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay on! Here's a few links to help you adjust:

There's plenty to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that don't exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you'd like to do. Thanks for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need a hand. πr2 17:39, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Simple...[change source]

So I see you're also en.wiki-starved enough to come over here... nice to know. ;) Calabe1992 22:32, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Something like that. I learned that there's a trick that enables you to skip past the blackout. But that will be moot after midnight. Presumably. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots22:35, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you shut off Javascript, everything's visible, but all the pages are protected, so you can't do anything. Calabe1992 22:57, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I saw. That's OK. But I can just imagine countless casual users or infrequent editors calling their congressman and saying, "Why did you turn off Wikipedia?" ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:20, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
No kidding. Last evening the black screen was showing up here on Simple as well, but I saw someone writing that they shut the Javascript off so it would quit. Neither Twinkle nor Huggle seem to be working that well on here though... Calabe1992 02:26, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Admins still were doing revdelete and deleting pages, but that's all for non-steward and non-staff changes during the blackout.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:20, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My watchlist ended at 1 minute before the blackout, and just recently an extra item appeared that was a reversion of some earlier vandalism, presumably done by an admin. Presumably also, we have about half an hour and then things should return to abby normal. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:28, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If it was a rollback or a revert it could've only been done by a steward of staff member. Even admins can't edit.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:29, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This was the edit.[2] The editor had (WMF) as part of his name, which stands to reason. And I see the little "?banner=0" trick doesn't work there. But it's less than half an hour now until the ironic curtain is lifted. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:32, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, you use &banner=0 if there's already a "?". (pointless now, but...) πr2 05:16, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A steward did do a rollback of blatant spamming, but that's the only use of it I've ever seen.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:38, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can't keep the bloody thing visible long enough to see what he was reverting. But we're only about 20 minutes away from the end of it. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:41, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Special pages still can be viewed. I just use the pop-ups gadget to view other things.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:41, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I can see a reversion of blatant spamming on en:Florida Justice Institute. Calabe1992 04:43, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That was it.Jasper Deng (talk) 04:44, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Tried to log into Huggle on en.wiki, but it won't let me in yet, because there is still no rollback group. Calabe1992 04:48, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Someone also undid IP vandalism on en:Baby Ruth. Calabe1992 04:55, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(as noted above).Jasper Deng (talk) 04:57, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's the one I was talking about. Presumably it had happened before the blackout. I hope so, otherwise someone has breached security. If they're on schedule, things should be back to usual in just a few minutes. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:58, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That person was a steward.Jasper Deng (talk) 05:00, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Back in business, but apparently anonymous editing is still disabled.Jasper Deng (talk) 05:01, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Usually:

  1. References
  2. Other websites (external links)
  3. Navbox (if applicable)
  4. Stub (if applicable)

Our guide to layout is a bit thin at the moment, but it's basically the same sequence as at enwiki. Osiris (talk) 06:17, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
