Requests for deletion and Quick Deletion[change source]

Hi Blue Herring! I just wanted to leave you a little note about your creation of Requests for Deletion. I appreciate that you're clearly able to spot material which needs to be removed, but I'd like to give you a little bit of help as to how to do it, if you don't object.

We use a system of Quick Deletion on this wiki, which involves placing a template on an article page, if the content of that page meets certain criteria - you can find a list of them here.

To nominate a page using this system, you use the template {{QD}}, followed by a pipe mark (one of these |) and then the code from the criteria list which matches your nomination reason. If your browser supports it, you can do this with assistance from a gadget called Twinkle. To switch Twinkle on, go to "My Settings" at the top of the page, click on it and pick the "Gadgets" section. In the very first section, "Browsing gadgets", select the checkbox for Twinkle, then go to the bottom of the page and click "Save".

The time when we normally use Requests for Deletion (RFD), is when someone argues against deleting an article that's been marked for QD, or if the article doesn't fit into one of the criteria I linked you to earlier. If you're ever undecided over what to do, I would suggest you post at Requests for Deletion, and someone will help you from there.

If you need anything or want to ask me a question, leave it here. I'll put your talk page on my watchlist :)

Thank you very much for this information! I wasn't aware of the difference before. My apologies. I'll keep it in mind moving forward though. I appreciate your help, Chris. BlueHerring 20:30, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
