I'm sorry, where do you want me to use that? It's included on all warnings, so I don't think it would be needed anywhere else. But if you let me know where and why, then I'll consider it :). Goblin 15:34, 1 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ GoblinBots![reply]

Block for comments

I have blocked you for 48 hours for your "blunt" response here. This comment was uncivil and uncalled for. Please take those 48 hours to readjust this "fuck the world" attitude you are approaching Wikipedia with now. Either way (talk) 23:39, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree entirely. I fail to see how my comments have been any worse than what several of our admins get away with regularly. And you're telling me the wiki isn't broken? No, I won't drop the "fuck the world" attitude. If i'm going to be blocked for trying to build an encyclopedia then something is very wrong. Goblin 23:41, 1 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton![reply]
I fail to see how telling someone to "GTFO" and "shut the hell up" is helping to build the encyclopedia. Either way (talk) 23:45, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
By telling them to stop wasting time by moaning about something trivial, and by telling them to go and work on their PGA that they have spent more time moaning about than working on. Moaning does not help, writing does. Goblin 23:46, 1 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton![reply]
FORMATTING LIKE THIS DOES NOT. MICROCHIP08 23:47, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
YES IT DOES. IT MAKES THE BLIND BUGGERS READ THINGS RATHER THAN NOT READ THINGS. Goblin 23:49, 1 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Yotty![reply]
Is it necessary to keep attacking me, even here Purplebackpack89 (talk) 03:50, 2 September 2009 (UTC) a.k.a. "they"[reply]
Stop moaning and go write some articles. I have not attacked you at all, and if you can't handle some truths then you're not going to get on very well in life. Get. Over. It. Goblin 17:27, 2 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Nifky![reply]

BG7, I'd be prepared to re-evaluate this block if you can "turn the other cheek" when these things annoy you. I know that you and I share a goal of improving the Wikipedia and I would hate to see you driven away again for the sake of a few bad-tempered moments. I know it can be frustrating around here from time to time, but the old WP:AGF should always be remembered. So, what do you say? The Rambling Man (talk) 17:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

some articles written when not moaning Purplebackpack89 (talk) 17:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To put that into perspective, note how you have more edits to User talk:Bluegoblin7 and Wikipedia (talk):Proposed good articles than Abraham Lincoln and Joe Biden combined. MC8 (b · t) 17:57, Wednesday September 2 2009 (UTC)
And please, it would be useful to try to maintain a more conciliatory tone here, rather than continue to antagonise. Harmony please. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:59, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I won't be taking back anything that i've said thus far, but if Purple is prepared to "let it drop" and go back to writing his articles, i'm prepared to also let it drop, AGF and possibly even come and help Purple out. Contrary to what you might think, I don't like getting into arguments over petty things, but fail to see why people make such big deals out of such minor things. If they have a problem with Be Bold and Ignore All Rules then why don't they go and RfD them? (Not aimed at anyone in particular). Regards, Goblin 18:04, 2 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Fr33kman![reply]
Let's all forget about this and go and build a wiki (and btw, we should really have a template which says that, I'm bored of having to type it all the time! :D ) Yotcmdr =talk to the commander= 18:04, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, so if this is the end of this current issue then I'll unblock BG7, and perhaps we can move on and build an encyclopedia? Coolio. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:10, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds fine by me, but i'm biased, so get a 3O. Goblin 18:12, 2 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Fr33kman![reply]
You're done. Now let's crack on with mainspace. I'm not intentionally wheel-warring with Either way here, by the way, I just want people to get on with things. I'm sure if BG7 strays (in the eyes of others) again, he'll get a longer block. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just for Yots...Template:Go build a Wiki ;-D Purplebackpack89 (talk) 18:56, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Autoblock TRM... and the template is just completely against the entire point of this whole discussion, and the subject of the template itself. Hypocritical or what? Goblin 19:01, 2 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Nifky![reply]

Right. We're having a combination of (1) inappropriate "humour" and (2) sense-of-humour failure. The template has gone (not a good idea in the first place) and now we move on. Please. The Rambling Man (talk) 19:28, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA Cup

What announcements are you making? And when? --Salixa (talk) 21:50, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, the plan was to basiclly delay the start slightly to allow for more entries, and also poke people towards it. Hope to make it later today once i've finished some stuff IRL, but it may be early tomorrow. Thanks for your interest! Goblin 21:52, 2 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Juliancolton![reply]
I'm telling people about it. What's the fun without a lot of entries? I put something there. I've organized one or two things on en.wiki and if you like I can help. :) What's the deadline for the GA Cup? and deadline for entries? --Salixa (talk) 01:01, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Deadline is November 30th for entries and Cup. Griffinofwales (talk) 01:02, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Entry deadline is when it starts: 00:00 7th September - that's Monday. This makes it a fair competition. Deadline for submitting (V)GAs - well, there isn't really one. The cup stops when it stops, so I guess then. Goblin 18:03, 4 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]

Quick Clarify

Is the text requirement for GA and VGA just text, or text and prose? What's the difference? Purplebackpack89 (talk)

Hey there, the text requirement is prose, which is continous writing in sentences that doesn't include infoboxes, references etc. On the text counter on the toolserver it's the bottom reading. Hope that clears things up. Goblin 19:13, 5 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]

Goblin 22:33, 7 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]

Biden renommed for GA

I tried VGA, but it became clear that the article would need an extra KB of prose and/or be a GA first to have a good chance of passage, so I put it back on GA. Purplebackpack89 (talk) 23:18, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's really not that hard to write the extra text. By the end of the PGA stage you will have written more than a KB in discussion, and it would be much better if this KB was on Biden. When I said "re-list at PVGA" I did also include "do some more work" - seems that this was ignored. Goblin 07:03, 10 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Yotty![reply]

A link to the version of the template that you copied from. Click permanent link on the enWP template, and copy the URL. Then leave a note with the link on simpleWP talk page. Griffinofwales (talk) 19:26, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
ah k, shoulda just said perma link. [2]. Afkatk (talk) 19:28, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, now you've done that, what's up with it? How does it differ to en? Goblin 19:29, 14 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Chenzw! (Griffin, ill handle this :|)[reply]
Well it looks slightly different, so I guess I figure I've always done something wrong in the preview, though from the looks of it on the Edit page, This Template is missing. 19:35, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
All seems fine to me. You could try making {{wrap}} here, but I don't know that it will do much. The wiki in general has problems with templates and navboxes. Regards, Goblin 19:49, 14 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Nifky![reply]
Thanks both of you for your help anyway. Afkatk (talk) 19:57, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No worries at all. Any problems in future with anything on wiki (and I mean anything), just drop me a line :). Regards, Goblin 20:00, 14 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Chenzw![reply]
I will, I shall be needing some help with sorting out the categories in future, so I'll drop you a line then. Afkatk (talk) 20:05, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tennis

I'm looking to expand the Tennis Section on this Wiki, I was wondering if there are any Tournament Brackets on this site, like there are on the English Pedia. Afkatk (talk) 23:15, 14 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your efforts in expanding the section would be much appreciated! I am sure you have seen that we have a few Tennis related VGAs, but more are always a good thing! However, I am confused about what you mean by "Tennis Brackets" - could you please explain what you mean? Sorry, I know nothing about Tennis, being a Transport man! Regards, Goblin 07:26, 15 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]
That'll be the graphical representation of quarter, semi and finals, along the lines of en:Template:24TeamBracket... The Rambling Man (talk) 08:58, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks RM, tis exactly what I mean. Afkatk (talk) 12:26, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it possible I could press on an answer for getting some Tournament Brackets over here? Afkatk (talk) 20:14, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that some folks here can "import" templates. Do you have any specific en.wiki templates in mind? The Rambling Man (talk) 20:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at this years Wimbledon Championships, I feel I'm gonna need the following, feel free to check for yourself en:2009 Wimbledon Championships#Seniors

Also if we are to add the flagicons we need to somewhat sort them out as they seem to be kind of weird on here. Afkatk (talk) 21:08, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have imported them all, but there are a few that have documentation pages that will probably need to be translated into simple english. I don't have the time at the moment to do it as I am heading out. But if you want to that would be great. -DJSasso (talk) 14:33, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
ok cool, thankyou, so they should be ok to use? Afkatk (talk) 15:41, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. -DJSasso (talk) 17:25, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Simple talk

I apologise if I've caused any harm or upset, but I was only trying to post what some editors may think is odd - to see a vandal turn around. Kurt --Kulffeb (talk) 19:30, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If I were you I would have not have said anything. I suggest you tread extremely carefully as you are acting in a way that Sunstar has in the past. I will be following this up, and if you are hiding anything it would be in your interest to make it known. Regards, Goblin 19:33, 26 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]
  • Well, technically we should call him "Sunholm" since that was the first-ever account he used (and the fact that a now-dead website was annoyed by him using their name to troll Wikipedia). I didn't hide anything when I posted my notice. He is emotionally different, that's why he is the way he is. Kurt --Kulffeb (talk) 19:35, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really care to be honest. I've said my piece, and the fact that you seem to know so much about him further adds to my suspicions. Discussion closed. Goblin 19:37, 26 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Nifky![reply]

pgood

I noticed that you changed the template. I was originally going to do what you did, but I decided to be precise just in case a user put in the middle of the article (for some weird unknown reason). I expect most users to know better, but you never know. My logic may be way off, but what do you think. Griffinofwales (talk) 19:47, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because there is really no point in being panickety and anul by specifing exactly where. It's easier to leave it blank and if it does go somewhere else then you can just use a browser search to find it... Stop worrying about templates and policies and write some good or very good articles, please? Goblin 19:51, 26 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy![reply]

Biden GA Close

Would you agree that it met the criteria, and was sunk only because an illegal "comprehensiveness" test that's not GA was applied to it? Purplebackpack89 (talk) 20:00, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No. Read what I said at JC's talk. Goblin 20:02, 26 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ GoblinBots![reply]
