Saturn

Hi BG7, I think you have closed Saturn for the wrong reasons. There has been a lot of work done on the article over the last week, (see the article talk page) and it now easily exceeds the requirements for GA. In fact I believe it now easily meets the requirements to be put back in as VGA. Albacore has raised four minor points which I will fix sometime this weekend. But I let the article speak for itself - have a look again, and let me know if you can see anything that prevents it from being GA. I will probably renominate it soon as I think it is ready. And as you said, we need to get a few things moving positively, and quality articles is one of the best ways. --Peterdownunder (talk) 12:36, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peter, don't disagree with you at all and I think the article is largely in good shape with everything met that was rasied at it's demotion. As I (think I) explained in my closing rationale, it was by-and-large a procedural close rather than a close for any reasons on the article's part. Similarly to the circumstances with the Jean Balukas PAD, the article had been sat open for the three week time period and another couple of weeks on top of that, and I'd been avoiding the close in the hope that some people would swoop in in support of a promotion. This was, sadly, not forthcoming, and, although it is a failing on the Community's part rather than the small few who are (commendably) commenting on and improving the article to get it up to standard, the criteria are there for a reason and it isn't fair to articles that are nominated in more upbeat periods of activity if the nomination is kept open indefinitely - many articles have gone by without extension in busier times when they could have been got up to scratch given an extra week or so of 'non-activity'. I'd definitely encourage a re-nomination - perhaps going straight to VGA to cut out the extra red tape that GA creates - and hopefully we can get some community drive behind the processes again soon. Also, please take a look at my comments on Barras' talk page with regards to this matter. Thanks, and apologies again! Goblin 12:43, 23 June 2011 (UTC) I ♥ Chenzw![reply]
Hi BG7, I have used the time to get Saturn up to scratch, which was easier once the pressure of the PGA timetable was removed. I have taken your advice and have renominated it WP:VGA. Have a look at the article now and I am sure you will see that it meets the criteria. --Peterdownunder (talk) 07:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
