Fundamental theorem of arithmetic[change source]

It is a lot better. On a separate issue relate to the article, do you know if using dots ('·') instead of 'x' or '*' as the symbol for multiplication is a British English vs. American English thing, or more of an upper vs. lower math thing? If it's the latter I think the dots should by replaced by one of the more commonly familiar ones. Freshstart 05:34, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.
Using the dot is mathematically slightly more advanced than using 'x'. However within mathematics it is very common. Often it even goes a step further, and the dot is left out, like in pbx + aby = b. My suggestion is therefor to keep the dots as they are (but use the 'x' in topics that are less advanced than the Fundamental theorem of arithmetic) and to add to the article Multiplication the information that in mathematics the dot is also used.
