Hey

Hey...didn't I meet you on IRC? ToQ100gou2 (talk) 22:47, 7 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, maybe? George Edward CTalkContributions 07:12, 8 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. I did! This wiki is more better than Wikipedia, I tell you. I'll be back on WP in a few months because of....you know what. ToQ100gou2 (talk) 21:22, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thank you for the warm welcome. I hope my articles aren't too sloppy. DunDunDunt (talk) 11:32, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not too bad! One thing: Duck Dynasty needs some sources. Otherwise, not bad :) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 11:37, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Puberty

I think the puberty article is to long and should be split into spin off articles about different elements of it. I did that with thelarche by adding the puberty article's comments about that topic to the thelarche article and deleting them from puberty article. Could we do that with the other micro details of the article so the article can stay more macro and not be a novel?--PaulBustion87 (talk) 14:09, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that we should split off the article, as it is indeed too long. Feel free to be bold and make these splits, assuming that they are notable enough. :) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 18:24, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Hold on, guys. What makes you think the article is too long? As long as everything in it is about the subject, it's OK for an article to be long. Just because a lot if our articles are short, that doesn't mean they have to be. Many of our articles sbould even be longer than they are (not that that's true of this one). --Auntof6 (talk) 19:00, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Its under 20,000 bytes now, so its probably short enough. The article started at 2,000 bytes and then jumped to over 47,000 bytes fast, now its short enough though. --PaulBustion87 (talk) 20:11, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It does look good. Just don't necessarily shorten articles for the sake of getting them shorter. You should probably put back a little information about the changes in the sex organs, though, because that is specifically related to puberty. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:25, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
But so are changes to breasts, menstruation, etc. We'd have to put that all back in the article then, and it would be as long as before. I put that information into the penis, thelarche, vagina, menstruation, etc. articles.
You wouldn't have to put it all back. You could just say something like "During puberty, x, y, and z become larger." That's all you'd need. The details can be in the other articles. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:42, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your articles

Hi George. Whenever I see one of your articles on the Special:NewPages list I'm a bit surprised. Your articles show you have a very good grasp of policies and guidelines (besides being just good articles). I'm sure it's just an oversight that it wasn't given by now but you may want to ask for Patroller rights. As you might already know, at simplewiki, patroller rights mean any pages you create are automatically marked patrolled and do not need another patroller to review them. In my opinion yours don't. Also, should you decide to, patrollers can patrol pages on the New pages list, review them and mark them patrolled. You can apply at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Patroller. Anyway, please give it some thought. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 16:38, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Rus! I'll give it a whirl. :) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 18:28, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

CIH

Hi, Caliburn. I changed some of the links to Wiktionary in this article to regular links. I did that mostly where we have articles that could be used, but in at least one case, there was no Wiktionary entry. Links to articles are always better than links to Wiktionary, but if you're going to link to Wiktionary, please:

  • See if we have an article that could be used instead. If there isn't, but there could well be one in the future, consider leaving the link red. Once we link to Wiktionary, it's hard to go back and find those links if the relevant articles get created later.
  • Be sure there's a Wiktionary entry to link to. (If there isn't, you can always create one!)

Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:24, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers for the advice Auntof6! I'll keep this in mind :) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 18:28, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats, George, and welcome. I'll warn you: it will sometimes seem like you don't have time for the work you want to do, but such is the lot of Wiki admins! --Auntof6 (talk) 17:22, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, thanks Auntof6 :D --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 17:26, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have found your shirt. Don't lose it. ;) Chenzw  Talk  21:55, 7 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi George
First, congratulations on becoming an admin. Secondly, here's a problem for you. Since you advised users about resolving their differences on Statue of Liberty (constantly changing the image back and forth). It's continuing and I warned one user against edit warring. When I went to warn the other I discovered the other IP user is now using an anonymous proxy, which as I understand is against policy. I wasn't sure enough to report it as vandalism and as you were already involved I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 17:15, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! But, unfortunately, I blocked the wrong user by mistake. Anyways, if this warring continues, then a protection would probably be justified, I'll wait a bit first though. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 17:24, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't see the block. At any rate I didn't warn the anonymous proxy user because I wasn't sure it was the same as the other IP user in this edit war. It probably was but it would require someone with a CheckUser flag to be sure it's a sock. Anyway, thanks for looking into it. User:Rus793 (talk) 18:56, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I'd like to say a belated thank you to you for welcoming me, I enjoyed the cookies. Domdomegg (talk) 20:34, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, glad you enjoyed them :P --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 18:12, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Closing RfDs

Hi, George. Thanks for closing all thosr RfDs! A couple of notes:

  • When you close a request as "kept", please remember to put the {{oldrfdfull}} template on the associated talk page.
  • Be sure to use one of the standard templates (such as {{kept}} or {{deleted}} for every closure so that the page gets into one of the RfD categories. When the outcome is to redirect a page, you can use {{kept}}.

Thanks!--Auntof6 (talk) 16:26, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Np, thanks for the advice! :) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 19:05, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your block of user Nitled

I saw that you blocked this user indefinitely for "using Wikipedia for advertising or promotion". That is not an "indeffable" (if that's a word!) offense, especially when the user has not received any warnings. I think maybe the reason should have been "bad username", which is indeffable without warnings. I think you can change the block and give a different reason. In either case, it would be good to leave a message on the user's talk page to let him/her know what the problem is. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:45, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Always thought it was. Changed block message and will notify the user. Cheers, --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 11:10, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
