April 2018[change source]

Thank you for changing Wikipedia. We welcome all changes, but we can have only changes that are in simple English, and your new changes to "Hades" were not simple. Please see Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages so you can write more simply in the future. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 16:54, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove content from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to "Aeneas", without giving a good reason in the change summary. This is vandalism. If you want to practice changing Wikipedia, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 17:03, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hello, Chrisangelo23, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. Thank you for wanting to contribute here. On this version of Wikipedia, the language used in articles must be simple, because the target audience is people who do not know English well. The language you used in many of your changes was not simple enough, so unfortunately many of your changes were reverted. The page Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages explains more. If you decide to keep contributing here, please use the kind of simple language that is required. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:17, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Copying directly from other sources.[change source]

I requested quick deletion for Liber because most of it is a word-for-word copy from [1] and [2]. You need to write in your own words, write in simple words, and use references. Gotanda (talk) 03:51, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not make unhelpful changes to Wikipedia, like you did to Hephaestus. The changes you made seem to be vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you want to try changing Wikipedia to learn more about how it works, please use the sandbox. Thank you. DaneGeld (talk) 17:21, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your changes are still not in simple enough language[change source]

I have reverted your changes to Artemis and Dionysus because you used language that was too complex. The purpose of this Wikipedia is to have articles in language that is simple so that people who don't know English well can understand. Please stop using complex language in your changes. If you aren't interested in using simple language, then maybe you'd prefer to work on the regular English Wikipedia instead. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:33, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You state that the purpose of this Wikipedia is to "have articles in language that is simple so that people who don't know English well can understand", not reading at the level of a second grader. You can see that the changes I make are not unnecessarily complex or formulaic; anyone familiar with the English language would not have a problem understanding it. Look at the pages on Apollo or Zeus; they're practically full of "complex" text (Apollo's page is essentially a copy and paste of the original one from Wikipedia), yet you leave them be. In all honesty, I find the pages as they currently appear to be demeaning to the reader's intellect (why would one need to know that Kronos and Rhea are Hephaestus' grandparents, for example); that is why I am so adamant in my changes. I simply ask that you just look and compare my changes to these pages to the way they thy appear now and you'll see which one is more fitting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chrisangelo23 (talkcontribs) 19:38, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have moved your reply here to keep the discussion in one place.
You say "anyone familiar with the English language would not have a problem understanding it". That is exactly the issue: our target audience is not very familiar with the English language. Two important parts of writing simple English are using simple sentence structure and using simple vocabulary. As an example of the issues with your contributions, your recent change to Odysseus includes the following words that are more complex/advanced than we want here: eponymous, favored, cunning, ingenuity. You also included some complex sentences that need to be divided into simple ones. The page we keep referring you to explains that. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:00, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Respectfully, Chrisangelo, if you find the pages here "demeaning" to the reader's intellect, maybe this isn't the best Wikipedia for you to be working on. You can be as adamant as you want in your changes, but if your changes mean that people who rely on this Wikipedia to get an understanding of English, can't read what they want to read, your changes are no good. I'm sorry, but you have to face the fact that you either write in the way that we set out, using appropriate language, or you find somewhere else to work. I'm not going to pull any punches here, you've been told, you've been pointed at the right things to read, you're not listening. And no, Auntof6, I won't retract this. DaneGeld (talk) 13:38, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was about to write something similar to what DaneGeld said. I have just reverted more of your changes because the language wasn't simple enough. Understand that your contributions here have been well written, just not appropriate for this Wikipedia.
At this point, it appears that either you don't understand what is needed here, you aren't able to write appropriately for this site, or you aren't willing to write appropriately for this site. Whichever it is, we can't continue to have you write in language that is too complex. If you continue contributing things that are too complex, we will have to either institute some kind of restriction on your editing or block you from editing at all. If you want to continue contributing here, please read the pages that explain how to write in simple language, and feel free to ask for help with it. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:25, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Chrisangelo, you have been warned repeatedly. Please stop wasting other editors' time. Gotanda (talk) 07:41, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A proposal has been made for the community to sanction you.[change source]

Good morning. In line with our rules, I am required to tell you that I have started a discussion with a view to having you sanctioned for your continuing failure to follow the way we write and work here.

If you wish to comment on it, please click here to be taken to the discussion.

Thank you for your attention. DaneGeld (talk) 09:34, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

April 2018[change source]

Your changes to Titus are causing disruption to the project and this is not acceptable. Please stop. If your disruption continues, you will be blocked from changing Wikipedia. Your changes still are not simple enough for this Wikipedia. Continue in this manner and you will probably receive a block. J991 19:04, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries such as this, "That should be good enough. Feel free to simplify to your heart's content." on Anemoi show that you are unwilling to work constructively on this wiki. Just dropping in some complex text for others to simplify is not helpful and neither is the attitude towards others you show in the other summaries. Gotanda (talk) 23:57, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked from changing Wikipedia for 48 hours for repeatedly making complex changes after discussion and warnings.

Once the block has ended you can make helpful changes. Please read Wikipedia's blocking policy and remember that adding spam, making changes that do not have a neutral point of view, making personal attacks on others, not respecting other people's privacy, and vandalizing pages are not allowed. If you do any of these things, you will be blocked again.

If you think this block is unfair, you can ask to be unblocked by adding {{Unblock|your reason here}} below. If you cannot do this or the reason is private please send an e-mail to simple-admins-l@lists.wikimedia.org and an administrator will look at your reason and reply. You may want to read our guide to unblock requests before asking to be unblocked. Auntof6 (talk) 09:38, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May 2018[change source]

Almost all of your recent changes since the expiration of your block have been rolled back, reverted, or had to be simplified because you are adding complexity to the language. Please write very simply as is the remit of this wiki or you will be blocked again. -- Gotanda (talk) 08:40, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your changes to Pontifex Maximus because they are too complex and written in language not suitable for this Wikipedia. Please stop making complex changes or a request will again be made to block you from editing here. DaneGeld (talk) 18:59, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Noting that I have also just seen your edits to Anemoi and the edit summary you left, I have no choice in the matter now. I have filed a request with the administrators for you to be further blocked from editing. You may comment on the request here, and I would strongly encourage you to do so. It would be helpful if you could explain in a little more detail why you either seem unable or unwilling to edit in the manner needed. Thank you. DaneGeld (talk) 19:15, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked from changing Wikipedia for 72 hours for Unwilling to listen to advice; unwilling to edit in simple English; show attitude in edit summaries. If you do not agree with this block, please reply on your talk page by adding {{unblock|reason}}, replacing reason with why you think the block is wrong. If you cannot do this or the reason is private, please send an e-mail to simple-admins-l@lists.wikimedia.org and an administrator will look at your reason and reply.

June 2018[change source]

Thank you for changing Wikipedia. We welcome all changes, but we can have only changes that are in simple English, and your new changes were not simple. Please see Wikipedia:How to write Simple English pages so you can write more simply in the future. Thank you. I saw the edit summary for your change to Artemis. It is apparent that you are unable or unwilling to write in the kind of simple language required here. If you'd still like to help, you could explain on the talk page what changes are needed, and another editor could make the changes. Otherwise, if you continue making changes in complex language, you may be blocked for a long or indefinite time from editing here. Auntof6 (talk) 20:19, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
