Vehicle articles

Hi, Davey. I just wanted to let you know that I removed some categories from some articles you created. The categories were for automobiles, but the articles were about vans and buses. Vans and buses are not automobiles. Please keep that in mind if you create more articles about vehicles. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:29, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, Ah my apologies, I was supposed to have done some research before putting them in those cats so apologies for that, Thanks for your message, Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 13:15, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chatham

Hi, Davey. I just wanted to let you know that I did some cleanup and moving of the Chatham disambiguation page. The first was to unpipe the entry for the city in Kent -- the disambiguating links should not be piped. The second was to move Chatham (disambiguation) to Chatham, leaving a redirect, because when both the qualified and unqualified pages exist for disambiguating, the qualified one should be the redirect. Let me know if you have any questions about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:38, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, Ooops sorry - When I changed the redirect target at one of the articles I thought I were doing it wrong but then thought I was doing it right lol, Apologies for causing the unintentional disruption, I'll ask infuture before moving any article, Thanks once again for your help :), Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 13:30, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's OK. Most people don't know about that convention. The reason is that any article that wants to specifically link to the dab page can link to the qualified title so that we know it doesn't need to be disambiguated. When I worked on enwiki more, many such redirects were created to begin with, even if the page had never been moved. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:58, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ahhh right, Well if it's any consolation I would've done the exact same at EN as I never ever work with disambiguations so to some extent I don't have a great understanding of them if that makes sense, Ah well thanks again for your help :), –Davey2010Talk 18:21, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Archive bot

Hi, Davey. I noticed that you removed the archive bot code from your talk page, with an edit summary saying that it didn't seem to work. There are a few things that might have been keeping it from working.

  • The code for the archive bot has to be the first thing on the page. You had some code before it.
  • The archive bot defaults to leaving at least 5 threads (sections) on the page. This is to avoid completely blanking the page. If you never had a situation where the bot could archive and still leave at least 5 sections, it wouldn't archive everything you might expect. You can override this with the minthreadsleft parameter.
  • The archive bot also defaults to archiving at least two sections at a time. This is to prevent too-frequent editing by the bot. If you never had a situation where there were at least two sections ready to be archived, the bot wouldn't archive anything. You can override this with the minthreadstoarchive parameter.

Be aware that the archive bot doesn't run as soon as you add the template to your talk page. It runs on a schedule, so you have to wait for the next run to see whether it archives anything.

I hope this helped. The documentation for setting up the template, including the parameters I mentioned, is at User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:14, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, Ahhhh so I should've had the code like Commons - Both this and commons were the same except this talkpage didn't have "|minthreadsleft = 0" - I prefer everything gone over a day or so not to hide anything but I just prefer a clean talkpage :),
Oh no I know it does take a few days to first archive which is fine :),
Thanks once again for your help it's as always much appreciated :), Usually I can find things myself but WP:ARCHIVE (now bluelinked) didn't exist and what I did find on my searches was nothing related too this so simply gave up lol,
Anyway thanks again :), Have a great day, –Davey2010Talk 13:02, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, but I still think the template has to be the first thing on the page. You still have the displaytitle first. If I'm wrong and it works this way, let me know and I'll let the new bot owner know so the doc can be changed/clarified. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:59, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh right I didn't think it mattered, in that case I'll just remove it all and do it manually like at EN - Makes life simpler lol, ANyway thanks again :), –Davey2010Talk 17:17, 6 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New templates

Hi, Davey. I noticed that you created several templates, including Template:User active template and Template:Walter Alexander vehicle bodies. When you create a template, please be sure to include categories, and they need to be categories that we have here. At least one of the ones you created had no categories, and at least one had redlinked categories. Simple English Wikipedia doesn't have the same categories as English Wikipedia, so categories often need to be changed when things are brought over from there. (The same goes for articles and other things.) If you have any questions about this, feel free to let me know. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:23, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, I had no idea none were categorised or were redlinked so my apologies for that, Annoyingly I never gave the cats a thought dunny why really but any sorry about that,
BTW I didn't really wanna say this on your tp seeing as I've posted there enough already but I wanted to thank you for kindly fixing some of my mistakes on various articles, I do do my best to get everything correct however there will be times when I'll forget to change something like the cats or whatever but anyway thanks for your help around here,
Not having a go but it's nice to have a polite message instead of the 2013 fiasco which was some tool QD everything I created and warnd me over everything and anything so thanks for your nice message too :),
Have a great day, –Davey2010Talk 23:09, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Could you please inform me of how I was adding vandalism? --13TS (talk) 18:29, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 13TS, My apologies I was incorrect however when you look from an outside point of view and you see someone adding "Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Scott and Andrea Swift, and was raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania on a Christmas tree farm" ofcourse you're going to assume it's vandalism,
I've since added cites however could I ask infutre when adding stuff that you add the sources too as it stops misunderstandings like this, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 20:09, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You have reverted my edits for no reason.

Why did you revert my edits for no reason? — This unsigned comment was added by Raptorz12 (talk • changes) at 06:17, 17 August 2017‎ (UTC).[reply]

Raptorz12 - I stated in the edit summary why I reverted - I reverted because your changes didn't match those at the English Encyclopedia (EN) (Sure EN could be wrong but I highly doubt it, Please stop making these changes unless you can provide a source that the changes you are making are correct (which if they are I would amend the EN articles accordingly, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 12:14, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Expand template

Hello! On your new articles you do not need to include the {{expand}} template because you are already marking them as stubs. We try to avoid overusing maintenance tags. If you have questions, let me know. And thanks again for your new articles! --Tbennert (talk) 16:47, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tbennert, Funnily enough I did remember the stub templates after adding this but still wasn't sure so just left it, Okie dokie thanks for letting me know I'll try & remember not too add these anymore, Thanks and Happy editing :), –Davey2010Talk 17:22, 24 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Davey2010! I'm DaneGeld and an active editor here. Thank you for your changes, especially what you did for Wikipedia:Simple talk. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions check out Wikipedia:Questions, or send me a message on my talk page. I just thought we should rectify that. No good wikipedian should ever go unwelcomed :) DaneGeld (talk) 00:52, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I totally came to do that too lol. -DJSasso (talk) 02:07, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Arrr thank you DaneGeld (and Djsasso) :), I'm not gonna lie you've actually made my day so thank you both :), –Davey2010Talk 17:22, 26 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vauxhall (disambiguation)

Thanks for creating this dab page. I always like to see new dab pages.

I do want you to pay attention when including a Wiktionary template on dab pages. First, if you don't include a parameter on the template, it assumes that the Wiktionary entry is named the same as the dab page. There would never be a Wiktionary page with "(disambiguation)" in the name, so on dab pages with that qualifier you would always need a parameter.

Second, please include a Wiktionary template only if a Wiktionary page exists. There is no Simple Wiktionary page for Vauxhall, so I removed the template.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:10, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Auntof6, Oh damn I'm so sorry!, Probably shouldn't admit this but you are correct I haven't paid attention so my apologies for that, This is one of those times where I deserve a good slap with a fish! :), Thanks for your message - I'll pay much closer attention now,
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 19:15, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also forgot to add but I'll check all of my other disams now as unfortunately I've just copied and pasted them but yeah I'll check them all now, Thanks again, –Davey2010Talk 19:16, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 19:41, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome and thanks for kindly telling me :), –Davey2010Talk 19:42, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Revitalize The Simple Wiki

I started WikiProject Revitalize in my userspace to try and bring back the former activity and defend against vandalism here. Would you like to help out and add yourself to the member list and your opinions to the discussions? See User:Adotchar/WikiProject Revitalize Adotchar| reply here 16:19, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adotchar, Please don't take this the wrong way (and I mean this in a very nice way) but you're wasting your time - This place isn't like EN and unfortunately there's not many admins either, There's also the issue of pages here are never protected (never!),
The bot sounds great but again it'd probably require a lot of work and in short you'd be putting a lot in but not getting much back in some respects,
Simple is backwards in the way things are done and no amount of changes will fix that - if I'm being honest it's more or less on the verge of becoming inactive,
Anyway that's my 2c and ofcourse you're more than welcome to create it :),
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 16:32, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
