New articles[change source]

Hello, Don, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. Thanks for the new articles you created. I want to mention a few things.

  • The articles you created have very little information in them. Please try to include enough information to give a fuller description if the subject.
  • Please include more categories, and be aware that we have different categories than English Wikipedia.
  • You created the article Jari Kurri with a cleanup tag. If you think an article needs cleanup, consider working on it in a sandbox to get it in good shape before creating an article.
  • Please include references. This is especially important with articles about living people, where references are required.

It might be better to take time to get each article in good shape rather than create multiple very short articles. Feel free to let me know if you'd like more information about any of this. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:33, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quite right. It's good to know a new editor is thinking, but better to expand old, small articles than start new, tiny ones. Burmese calendar should be in Calendar for example, until it grows to a few paragraphs. A musical composition's short description should be in the composer's biography. I noticed here, that you said that you have faith in this user because they have been around for longer. I would like to point out 2 things. They have actually been around for less long, and another thing is that you should never justify a user's intentions just because they have been around for longer. I know you are new here, but please do not do this again. Krett12 (talk) 05:07, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Krett12: As I believe you know, Only has been around longer than your link indicates, because he previously used a different user name. You can look at the history of his user page to see that. Second, you should never tell another user how to form their own opinions. Please don't do that again. Besides that, you yourself are also fairly new here, so it would be best if you don't talk to new users about them not having been around long enough to understand how to do things here. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:02, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
THanks, Auntof6. The January 2015 date on the CentralAuth page is because that's when my username migrated for the single unified system. As can be seen by my contributions (go to my contributions and click "oldest"), my oldest contribution here is May 2006 (though the first few are just edits that were moved from En. to here through page histories). My first REAL contributions here were December 2008. Again, though, I don't think I need to justify my qualifications. Only (talk) 12:16, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) Just want to mention it here for the record, @Krett12: this is not the first time someone else has spoken to you about how you are giving out advice to others. Your message to DonLandry2 comes across as condescending, and you are also a relatively new contributor here on this wiki. Chenzw  Talk  12:24, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
His account was created only a few days ago, and mine was over a year ago. And I'm sorry if you felt like I was trying to change his opinions, I was trying to prevent him from saying things like "you're probably the correct one because you've been around longer". That is sometimes true, but I don't think this is the case. Krett12 (talk) 16:05, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
He is entitled to his own opinion. You are in no position to tell him to "please do not do this again". Chenzw  Talk  16:06, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

USS New Jersey (BB-16)[change source]

Hi. Thanks for contributing. I'd personally love to see more articles on important US Navy ships. (Please do USS New Jersey (BB-62)!) That said:

  • If you're on a public computer and can only add one line, it may be worth waiting until you're at a place where you can add a little more information. (I will not say you cannot write one-line articles, only that you may want to think about if that's the best way to go.) StevenJ81 (talk) 15:58, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
