Feature requests[change source]

Ok, a few more feature requests!

It would be great if page stalking could be done on a perwiki basis. I.e. if stalking multiple WMF IRC Channels, rather than reporting a page for every wiki stalked, it would be possible to add a page only for a certain wiki. For example, I want to stalk AN here, but not EN Wiki's AN.

Definitely possible and within the realm of the scope of the bot. EhJJTALK

Also, it would be great if Prefixes could be stalked, i.e. if a new RfD is created it automatically stalks it. This should also be extended to things like RfA or Editor Review for example.

Possible, although a little more challenging. I'll think about this one. EhJJTALK

More to follow at a later stage, but this is a very good bot :).

Ok, another couple of suggestions:
Allow for stalking by user possibly, and also allow for ignoring of users by page - e.g. if I edit my talk, don't stalk it.
Too complicated. Probably better to write a stalk-bot that does this rather than extend the RCBot in that direction. EhJJTALK
Also, i'd like to propose a change to what is said for the Watch list: something like User talk:Bluegoblin7 changed by User:DNA - http://simple.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=1628251&oldid=1628247 - /* Ok */ . The wikilinks around the users also may not be needed, and certainly things like "Watchlist" etc aren't.
I've gotten rid of the "whitelist" that used to be there, but the order is designed to match SWBot and other CVN bots. I'd like to match it as close to those as possible so that it is less confusing to new users. EhJJTALK 01:50, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No rush for any of these, and nor will i mind if they're not done :). They're all more what I want ;). Goblin 15:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Shappy! 15:53, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, maybe I'll see about pulling some of the code out of RCBot and write "StalkBot". EhJJTALK 01:50, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As I mentioned, they're all more what I want rather than need etc. The bot is brilliant as it is, and there is no need to add anything else. With regards to the order, I was thinking that change could be just for stalked edits - though granted that might be a little complex! A stalk bot would be even better ;). Ability to control which kinds of actions are shown[change source]

The ability to chose whether certain actions (block, patrol, protect, etc.) are shown or not, using a command like:

RCBot hide patrol
RCBot show block

Stalk pages by prefix[change source]

Stalk pages currently must match exactly. Usually, a user will be interested in edits to any page which is a subpage of that page. Either set up as prefix match or partial match (the latter is even more flexible than the former and is probably preferable). EhJJTALK 00:48, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quiting problem[change source]

For some reason, my copy doesn't want to quit properly. It's version 1.8b for Windows. The CVN works and other commands (quiet, speak, etc.), but not the "<nick> quit". It does show "<nick> Quitting as requested." though, but not the actual quit. --Bsadowski1 21:09, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is strange. After it posts that, it runs System.exit(1);. Does the program end but it fails to log off from freenode, or does it remain connected and continue to send recent changes? EhJJTALK 23:09, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not working...[change source]

Hello EhJJ! I downloaded the bot and I have modified the files (like the README said) in Notepad, and yes, I saved it. However, the Java terminal will not start. It appears on the screen for half a second then disappears. Also, when I run RCBot.bat, Java tells me that it couldn't find RCBot, and it quits the terminal. Now when I run RCBot.bat, it does the same as the Java terminal. It appears then disappears right away. Help? Orashmatash -(talk)- 17:46, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
