Archiving delete request[change source]

I archived the delete request I made for 4Kids article, here. I canceled my request, and as far as I know, this is one of the criterions for concluding a delete request as a keep. Please verify that I have done the archiving correctly. Also, please let me know if you or others may feel uneasy about a non-Admin archiving of this request. Protecting a template[change source]

Template:Unsigned is a widely used template. Looking at its history, there are three users who are most likely to watch this page. However, these don't appear to be every-day editors of the Simple En WP these days. As a vandalism in this template can have a very wide spread result, and despite it has never been vandalised before, I think it would be an idea to protect this template (at least against anonymous edits.) I posted this here because I neither find an Administrators Notice Board on this wiki, nor had the hope for my request to be seen if I would post it on that template's talk page. Hope you will oblige. Huji 07:19, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hope you get back into the mood of simplifying articles soon. - Huji reply 21:09, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page Move[change source]

Thanks for the response about moving the Dokdo page. However, the destination name Liancourt Rocks (currently a redirect) was formerly a split version of the page. It won't let me move it over the redirect because of the page history. Can a non-admin still somehow do it? LactoseTI 17:17, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. I've been involved quite a lot over at English Wikipedia, but it seems like this project needs more attention. They have literally of thousands of users, maybe my effort would be better spent here. LactoseTI 19:51, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very good articles[change source]

I did a little beautification of the {{vgood}} template. What do you think? Should we go ahead and create a proposed very good article template? I think that may be a good way to get people involved and excited about the process.

I agree that we shouldn't do the FA thing on the main page right away. I was also thinking at least 10-15 before starting it. How do you feel about a weekly basis (as opposed to daily or monthly)? We could call it something like the "Very good article of the week". · Tygartl1·talk· 22:55, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see you've already created {{pvgood}}. I'll make it match the other template. · Tygartl1·talk· 23:11, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kashrut, and thanks[change source]

Thank you for your welcome, Eptalon, and for your efforts in this Wikipedia. I too would like to make meaningful and helpful contributions here. I'm glad to respond to your particular requests, especially as you were so considerate about noting the time required. Actually I'm about to go on a monthlong Wikibreak for family reasons, so I've just done some initial work on the Kashrut article. I hope you find it suitable; perhaps you could note on its Discussion page if there's further content you'd like to see added. Otherwise, if you ever have editing advice for me, your comments on my User talk page are most welcome. I'm here to learn as well as to share. -- Cheers, Deborahjay 22:28, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

# of Very Good Articles[change source]

Just curious, but on the simple wiki, how many good articles or "featured artciles" are there on the simplewiki out of the 16,000 articles we have? --§ Alastor Moody (T + C) 16:49, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, like the en wiki, I think we should also have an assessment scale here too since uou've developed the first two very good articles. I've currently developed a proposed scheme.

  • Very good article (VGA article)
  • A-class article
  • Good article (GA article)
  • B-class article
  • Start article
  • Stub article

Along with labeling aticles as VGA, should we also have a good article assessment like en wiki? --§ Alastor Moody (T + C) 07:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

JustJacklen[change source]

User:JustJacklen is blocked on en.wiki. Should she be blocked? --Choosnink TALK 21:08, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thx :) --Choosnink TALK 21:13, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. I would've but decided if someone wanted it in its own article they would do it. Thanks. --Isis§(talk) 02:15, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting[change source]

Hi, please be careful when deleting - the auto summary can have quite offensive stuff left in, as in your deletion of Ed Tudor-Pole. Thanks. Majorly (talk) 18:53, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. --Jessicagirl 23:55, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very Good Article[change source]

Hi!

According to this, India has its required three supporting votes. Does that mean, we can add it to the Very Good Articles list? - Huji reply 20:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article has not been in the voting section a full week. If at the end of the week, it has more than 66% support, it will officially be very good. :-) · Tygartl1·talk· 20:20, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I do not expect any opposing votes, since the article has been up (in the wrong section) since the beginning of June; I do however also see that we probnably need to wait until July 15, till we can promote it, just for forms sake. --Eptalon 09:05, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, thank you - Huji reply 10:41, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Taiwan[change source]

Thanks for the support. However, I'm going to be taking a wikibreak for the next 2 months or so. So I think the project is going to stay inactive at the moment.--Jerrypp772000 14:51, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied on my talk, but I'll be brief here: I can't think of any better place, and wasn't saying that there was, if that's why you posted the comment on my talk. Cheers, --Isis§(talk) 16:08, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where to report vandalism?[change source]

Eptalon, I see that you took action and restored the falsely renamed page I'd reported for Cleanup, for which I thank you. I'm too new here to know how to report vandalism that involves a Move (or ??), whereas I'm familiar with reverting to a prior version in editing for content vandalism. What would you advise, should I encounter similar problems in the future? And will that user have editing priviliges suspended or revoked? -- Thanks, Deborahjay 00:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I read about Vandalism in progress as you suggested, and took the recommended next-step action Thanks for your guidance! As you see, I'm learning to perform responsible editing functions according to Wikipedia's accepted practices, and your advice is much appreciated toward this end. -- Deborahjay 21:16, 17 July 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I've posted this article up on the Wikipedia:Propositions for very good articles. Do you think its good enough to qualify? --§ Snake311 (T + C) 19:39, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical Storm Lee (2005)[change source]

WAHOO!! I created another possible candidate for a very good article in just one day. This time I did all the work (except that a bot(s) edited). Well do you think its a good article? --§ Snake311 (T + C) 04:21, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Snake311, as you know one of the criterias for a good article is to be the result of contribution of more than one editor. We all know that an article can meet 6 other criterias; however, I think it is easy to have the article meet this criterion as well. Just ask someone (like me) to review your article and do some minor edits. This will also make the article meet the other criterion whichs says the last edits should be minor ones. Keep up the good work! - Huji reply 05:36, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Christian Dior[change source]

According to all published books about Christian Dior, he never married, never had any children, and was homosexual. See "Dior" (Assouline, 2004), "Christian Dior: The Early Years, 1947-1957" by Esmerald de Réthy and Jean-Louis Perreau (Vendome Press), and "Dior by Dior: The Autobiography of Christian Dior" (Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1957). The Shalynn Dior article is a travesty.

Article on that front page thing[change source]

About your front page thing of one of our very good articles, which two have you chosen now, just curious to know:) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 18:58, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No idea yet, at currently 4 very good articles, the choice is not that big. I was thinking about a script(bot that would pick one of them at random, and plug it onto the front page, perhaps with its first paragraph....)--Eptalon 15:24, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is my idea: We can write a script which changes the article every day. Then we can create four subpages for the main page like /Article_1 to /Article_4 where we store a briefing of the articles. The script will show this briefing on the main page, which itself has a link to the main article. If I'm confusing you, I can create a test main page, and do it there for you. Seeking your comments, - Huji reply 17:04, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summary[change source]

As Majorly has told you before, it is a good idea to keep the edit summary of you page deletions a little more clean. It is no good to see the F word here, I reckon. Hope I've helped, - Huji reply 10:16, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ultimately I think we will need to sort by continent as well. Po river would be in "rivers in Italy". Rivers in Italy would be in "Rivers by country" (in cat Rivers) and "Rivers in Europe" (in cat:Rivers or Cat:rivers by continent and Cat: European geography". Rivers in Russia in both rivers/Europe and Rivers/Asia and so on. I think Cat:Rivers in America also may need to be renamed to Rivers in the United States because of consistancy and issues with the term America. -- Creol(talk) 10:25, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proxy server[change source]

Eptalon, I would like to ask you for helping me with proxy server article. It can be easily converted to a very good article. Your help is appreciated. - Huji reply 12:32, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well actually, I felt a little bold today, so I added the request. Nevertheless, I still appreicate your making corrections to the article. - Huji reply 13:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suisui JAPAN/mahoo etc[change source]

I've now blocked those two accounts for a week, and I think it might be best to extend them to indefinite. My reason is that we've got a Japanese admin to come over and give them a warning in Japanese, and they've received warnings in English and have refused to stop. As you may know, User:Suisui is a steward, and messing with their userpage seems to tell me that they're only here to cause trouble. Archer7 - talk 10:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I've extended both blocks. Do you think a CheckUser is necessary? I'm fairly sure I've blocked all the accounts now, and I've blocked an IP they used on User:Huji's page for one month. If it continues, I'd definitely be in support of one, but right now I think I've probably got it - they didn't get past the autoblock and create new accounts, they seem to have waited (if I'm reading the log right). Archer7 - talk 12:20, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think what you've done up to here is enough. In case it continues, I will be supporting a checkuser as well. I will also like this checkuser to be extended to other wikis, and I'll also contact Ja WP buddies (or one of you can do this) to see if this is a multi-wiki trolling originating from something happening there, or not. - Huji reply 16:52, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. :) Thank you for your message on my talk page. But I don't understand what you mean when you say "clean up the mess". To what mess are you referring? Thank you, --Isis§(talk) 14:19, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Thanks. :) --Isis§(talk) 14:45, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
