script?[change source]

do you use a script to fix the CS1? I hate doing those by hand... Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:12, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

nope, i'm doing it by hand, though it's not as painful for me :p Etoza (talk) 21:17, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. However, Do you want access to the script? I can give you the link, and you just copy paste into a page it tells you to. [(You don't want to know how big the coding is for that script...) Trust me...] --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:26, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
sure! Etoza (talk) 21:29, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Copy and paste this importScript('User:Djsasso/MOSNUM dates.js'); and importScript('User:Djsasso/Sources.js'); (two separate lines) into your common.js it will add the options to your sidebar when editing a page, though it cannot fix the [last update] errors. But it's a neat script! --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:34, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!! Etoza (talk) 21:41, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, hope you find it useful! (Also you've been editing since I woke up this morning! Good work!) --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 21:43, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I installed it, though I can't figure out which option fixes the CS1... Etoza (talk) 22:19, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
There are 2 cases here;

  • (A) There is a CS1 Date Error, step one, change dates to either d/m/y or m/d/y, date formats via the button that gives that option is 'DATES TO dmy' and 'DATES to mdy' (I personally prefer d/m/y) whichever removes the error(s), then click 'FIX SOURCES', preview the changes, and save the page.
  • (B) There are the regular CS1 Errors, in that case press 'FIX SOURCES', preview the changes and save the page.
There will be a bit of a buffer after clicking the button(s), please give it a moment to show the changes of the page. I hope this helps you --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 23:51, 24 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, it works now. Thank you very much!! Etoza (talk) 10:32, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

talk pages[change source]

Just so you know, talk pages usually aren't deleted unless it's severe vandalism (like long-term abuse). You can just replace the page with {{talkpage}}. Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 14:43, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that, thank you for the information! Etoza (talk) 14:45, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Proper References in Articles[change source]

If you can, please use the citation template within the visual editor. It fills in all the correct information and doesn't leave it as a bare reference. Thanks! PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:09, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information! Etoza (talk) 17:10, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Very welcome. A lot of times if you put in the URL and click the magnifying glass, give it a few moments and it should fill out most of the information for you. Others you will have to do like access date, sometimes the authors, etc. PotsdamLamb (talk) 17:13, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nuvola apps important.svg It looks like you are in an edit war judging from the reverts you have made on Wikipedia:Vandalism_in_progress. Take care, because the three-revert rule does not let users make more than three reverts on a single page in a single day. Any user may still be blocked for edit warring and disruption, even if they haven't broken the three-revert rule. When you disagree with another user, you should first try to talk about changes in order to work together to improve Wikipedia and reach consensus. If you continue to disrupt the page, you may be blocked from changing Wikipedia. PotsdamLamb (talk) 22:32, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That guy is writing death threats and trying to report me and Darubrub as a vandal, I'd like to keep him away Etoza (?) 22:34, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That does not matter. Let the admins handle it and be patient. Once they are handled, you can request oversight for whatever they posted that is a threat. PotsdamLamb (talk) 23:02, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
3RR does not apply to reverting obvious vandalism. Darubrub (Let me know) 23:20, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Darubrub:It does not apply to reverting reports on the page, as it is not vandalism for someone to report a user. If the user wants to report you, they have that right. Admins will figure out what to do. You guys are fighting over both the reports on the page and on someone's talk page. PotsdamLamb (talk) 23:27, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for catching that mass bad information that went right past my eyes on the article Manfred von Richthofen PotsdamLamb (talk) 21:33, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

PotsdamLamb (talk) 21:33, 28 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much! Face-smile.svg Listen, I've once edited an article and I didn't even realize it was completely in Russian (with cyrillics), so it happens to the best of us. Etoza (?) 10:58, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Haha That I would have caught because I can only read EN and ES (and not much of it). PotsdamLamb (talk) 15:21, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[change source]

I am going to make one just for you titled “This user loves and adores edit conflicts!” PotsdamLamb (talk) 08:41, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hah! I'll try making a userbox for edit conflicts later. Face-grin.svg Etoza (?) 08:47, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think you missed the beginning of that statement “I am going to make one just for you…” lol. Alright the realms are yours I am off to bed! PotsdamLamb (talk) 08:52, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, oops! (and good night) Etoza (?) 09:00, 30 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A temperature gauge[change source]

I just saw your edit......lol.......We should create a temperature gauge for that issue. PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 20:48, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't hate vandals that much :P... I only get into long revert wars (it worked out for me perfectly last time) and passive-aggresively insult them (for legal reasons, this is a joke) Etoza (?) 21:03, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think you struck out the wrong words :) PDLTalk to me!OMG, What have I done? 21:08, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Etoza, there seems to already be a request for deletion here. You might want to request your request for deletion for quick deletion under G7. Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 20:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to avoid and handle CopyVio scenario[change source]

"Originally listed as a copyvio (of http://freedomhaven.org/Tony/FreedomHaven/index2.html?5800771.8848421555 )"

I thought I had taken care of the CopyVio strike that my change had received, but apparently I failed to resolve the issue correctly (although I don't yet understand how/why). What did I do wrong in dealing with this issue? What should I have done (or done differently)?

Ignoring for the moment the fact that the source qouted here (FreedomHaven.org) was/is NOT copyrighted (it's published under the GNU license), was the CopyVio claim a result of my not quoting the source correctly, or was it something else? I sincerely don't understand - I request additional clarification (so that I can do it correctly next time). Thank in advance. TonyOlsen (talk) 12:14, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TonyOlsen:The problem is that the GNU license isn't really findable on site (Is it on the website? The website is long but I can't see any text so it looks like a lot of blank space.), also please check EN:WP:C-P for more details, it doesn't look like GNU licenses are compatible with Wikipedia. As a general rule of thumb, whenever an article's content is practically copied word by word from another site, it is deleted to avoid any trouble. For more help, I'd suggest you talk with an administrator. WP:Administrators. Cheers. Etoza (?) 13:33, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Etoza:"The problem is that the GNU license isn't really findable on site (Is it on the website? The website is long but I can't see any text so it looks like a lot of blank space.)". You have to right-click on the page and select "View Source" to see the code for the page. The GNU license is near the top. I'll check out the additional links you provided. Thank you. Earwig[change source]

I think we may need to have a little discussion about what level of earwig alert we can allow. I mean, short descriptions of a place are bound to have certain items listed. I'm fairly sure we have not discussed this before. The fact that places all over the world advertise themselves is a consideration. Macdonald-ross (talk) 16:55, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there should be a level of Earwig alert we allow, since it's up to the admins to decide if the article is a copyright violation. The level should only just be a factor in the deletion process. Regardless, the article I QD'ed has a similarity of 60%, which is too high, in my opinion, since the article isn't one or two sentences (Besides, the article isn't even simple, its tone isn't suitable too).
