Barnstar[change source]

Barnstar Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

For being incredibly helpful and patient here. See you next week! Isis 22:29, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Isis. :) - Huji reply 09:18, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just gave it -- you earned it. Glad you enjoyed your vacation, but also glad to have you back. :) --Isis§(talk) 13:32, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back![change source]

Welcome back, dear Huji! :) You've been missed! Phaedriel - 09:54, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I enjoyed the vacation a lot. I came back and tried to contribute in every discussion where I had to participate. If there is something you think I should notice, please let me know. - Huji reply 09:59, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![change source]

Couldn't have done it without your list :) And thanks for the barnstar!! My first one (but hopefully not my last). Hope you had a great time on your trip, lovely to have you back!
By the way, is it alright if I continue with the list? There are some HUGE sections (like S) that I'd love to take a chunk out of.
Gwib-(talk)- 10:44, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! And I appreciate it. I'm still busy with the backlog of what I should've done when I was away. When I'm done, I'll join you with the list, and I'm hopeful we will finish it in one week. - Huji reply 11:42, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if it's appropriate to put this message in here, but how come you un-bolded the ones I'd bolded because I couldn't get them interwikis? Did I do something wrong or are you just going to get your bot to look over them?
Gwib-(talk)- 13:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Neither. I updated the list, and that caused all boldings to go! :( But I did some of them with my bot a priori. Some are still left... We need to find a way to do them... dunno. Do you have an idea? - Huji reply 13:51, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I have a week of completly nothing to do, so from today till Sunday I'll be editing until my eyes bleed :). I can probably get most of them done, and I'll bold most of the ones I'd already bolded before. But please please warn me before you refresh it again so I can copy the text so we won't loose the bolded ones again. Thats my plan anyway, What do you think?
Gwib-(talk)- 13:57, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.s. I'd noticed that almost ALL the A's and lots of other un-wikifiable names are those of Nigerian Politicians, ONLY Nigerian! How?!
First, don't worry this much about what you had bolded! Because it is still in the page history, and you can compare the pages and bold them again in, say, 5 minutes!
Second, about the Nigerian ones... I have a bad feeling. They are not notable (I've requested AfD for some). Their starting from A... well I don't want to blame anyone, but it is somehow like someone has taken a book, started from its begining (letter A) and copied some data into our wiki. Well, as long as the data is rewritten... it may not be a copyvio. But it still lacks notability... I have just this bad feeling, though I cannot do based on feellings only. - Huji reply 14:01, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
True, I hadn't though about that, thanks for the idea! And about those Nigerians, it's true. But they arn't on any other wikis, I checked. I'll try looking them up on Google and writing a bit more about them. Are they all from the same IP address?
Gwib-(talk)- 14:07, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not the same IP address, but the same user account. And, I've googled them all! Go to WP:RFD and see what I wrote first - Huji reply 14:09, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"And, Liam, I expect you have a reason other than the colors of boxes, or the size of their borders", hahaha! Thanks for that :D

re:What belongs to you[change source]

You would think I knew this, but grammar makes my brain hurt. I think it is " Isis' ". Don't tkae this as a written-in-stone fact, though. It is a possessive, singular, concrete, proper noun, I think? As I said before, grammar makes my brain hurt. The only thing writing-related I do is write poetry, and wikipedia, of course. :) --Isis§(talk) 19:19, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think it is "Isis's property". Most singular nouns take an "'s" no matter what they end with in the possessive form. -  BrownE34  talk  contribs  19:23, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. And now, this possessive form, is it pronounced "ai-se-siz" or "ai-sis" or what? - Huji reply 19:27, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay. I just thought " Isis's ", but saw " Isis' " in the enWP article. It is pronounced (excuse my simplicity) "Ice-iss-iz" in the possessive form. --Isis§(talk) 22:03, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No. If a person's name ends in /s/, the possessive would be to add /'/.

Exempli gratia:Website belonging to John, makes it John's website.
Website belonging to James, makes it James' website.
ionas talk contribs 04:21, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Now it is getting confusing. So, what I need, is a reference for each of the above statements (i.e. that in support of Isis' and that in support of Isis's). Please cite online sources. Many thanks. - Huji reply 11:01, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you were involved in web design. Since I can't, and Harrissimo can't, I will invite you to my wiki, you will get administrator status as soon as possible, to design the main page. It is currently very badly done, so please help me. ionas talk contribs 04:21, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would be glad to, but that needs changes to both the Main Page and the common.css files, and I don't think I have the time at the moment. I will be on a journey from tomorrow till Friday, again. - Huji reply 11:14, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I discussed this on IRC, (the Java version) and I noticed nobody really "chats" when a question is posed. Do people actually use it, and not just bots? Because it shows names like Werdan7 but when I make a comment, nobody chats on there. Please recruit someone to do that. By the way, ho do i change the .css files? Do I have to learn CSS?Ionas Rand [i.'ɔ.na.sız tɔk] 07:21, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on many factors, like the IRC channel you joined, and whether the other people who joined are really checking the channel or not (becuase one can join but then go away from the computer, etc). May be #mediawiki channel on freenode would be a good option, although still, people may not be able ot (or may not want to) help you in that case, as it is indeed a CSS and HTML problem, and not a MediaWiki problem. - Huji reply 07:44, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is "joining" when you replace "traveler" with your chosen username? I went to #vandalism-simple and the other simple one, I forgot. Please also help me with MP at Nevada Wiki. Ionas Rand [i.'ɔ.na.sız tɔk] 17:38, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure how to answer your question about joining, because I don't know where to start. May be, you should first tell me what client you are using (like ChatZilla, mIRC, etc) and then I can tell you what to do. Anyways, #vandalism-simple is not the appropriate place to ask such questions. I would suggest you give it a try on #mediawiki. - Huji reply 18:04, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a client,, I just use the Java version because I am afraid the mIRC will do something I don't like to the computer. Ionas Rand [i.'ɔ.na.sız tɔk] 20:26, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if you can join the channel with Java version. If you use Firefox, there is an extension for it called ChatZilla. It let's you connect to IRC channels easily, and does not do any harm to your computer. I suggest you use it. - Huji reply 20:28, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I use MSIE. Ionas Rand [i.'ɔ.na.sız tɔk] 21:17, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then you should use an IRC client. I still suggest you get Firefox and ChatZilla for free. - Huji reply 22:10, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hooray! Good to have you back :)
Unfortunatly, I (Isis is also going - to the beach :O) am going on a trip to go to a friends wedding, but I might have internet access while I'm there. So I'll work on them while I'm there. It'll be great!
I'll be in the sun, with my laptop, editing wikipedia and my brother will be burying my legs in sand. "sigh"
Hope you had a great time by the way.
Gwib-(talk)- 09:15, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ps Didn't thank you for fixing up my talk page for the Firefox users here; thanks!
Gwib-(talk)- 21:41, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great to see you again! :)[change source]

It's great to see you again, dear Huji :) Personally, I'd love you to take care of the VG selection for the main page, as I repeatedly said at Simple Talk. A suggestion: how about creating an archive, as in previously featured and next week's VG article? This might be rather easily made, and the talk page could be used to make suggestions for next selections. What do you think? love, Phaedriel - 19:19, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't fully understand what you mentioned, so could you please examplify it or reword it for me? - Huji reply 20:03, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Gladly; the best example I can provide you is the EnWP version of my idea. Have a look here. Phaedriel - 20:09, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Aha! Now I understood what you meant. Indeed, that was one of the ideas I thought of. However, that is again editor dependant. I mean, if people don't discuss about the next week's article, we will have troubles. For the same reason, I'm thinking of a combination of that method with something I have in mind: The order of the appearance of articles on the main page will be the same as the order of their promotion to VGA state. Every new article is added to the end of the list. If in some sitution, we thought we should have an article on the main page sooner than it is expected by its order on VGA promotion, we can do this by discussion on the talk page of the desired page (a page like EN's TOFA). If we continue with our current pace, we will hopefully not need to show an article twice (because we have at least one new VGA per week); however, if we had to go to the first of the list, we will go through the whole list (or at least a number of them which is defined by later consensus) before showing our newer VGAs (which are created after we had to go to the beginning of the list). I can gather the list, date-based, and I can use a bot to create all subpages. With some chance, either Creol accepts to help me (and thus do the semi-protections and SALTings) or I will reapply for adminship and get the required tools for doing this.
That's my idea, what do you think about it? - Huji reply 20:17, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Huji, I've been reading your current discussion about choosing for the next VG article on the main page, but I'd like to advise you not to jump straight into reapplying adminship. Yes I know your purpose for thinking about another RFA but just to remind you, adminship is when you gain trust from other wikipedians, not for just one speific thing. My only suggestion is to wait for a couple of more weeks, then after you gain more trust, then reapply. Cheers, :) --§ Snake311 (T + C) 20:49, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well I'm in agreement with you except for the timing! Actually, if I want to reapply for adminship, I won't do it any sooner than a few "months" later. That's why I believe it is better to have Creol (or another interested admin) on my side for the Main Page thing. Of course, there is no hurry in semi-protection of the subpages too. - Huji reply 20:52, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I like the idea, Huji, and considering our number of VG articles is still somewhat small, I think your system is a better way to kickstart the system. Let's hope that, eventually, our rate at producing them gets to a higher than one per week. When that moment arrives, we may revisist the idea; but until then, I'd go with your proposed system. Speaking of VG articles, I couldn't help but to notice you haven't been visiting the area much lately... in fact, in the last days, it's been Snake's, Gwib's and my realm only! A good reviewer like you gets sorely needed sometimes... Love, Phaedriel - 23:58, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming that you meant to address the VGA proposals in your last few sentences, I should say I read them, although I didn't comment there. Except for the days when I was away (my two journies), I check all my watched pages at least once every day, which includes the VGA related pages. Whenever I do not comment, it can be because I don't have a new idea (all what I wanted to say is already said) or because I prefered to make a comment with more background and after getting deeper into the issue. I hate making a comment which is only based on basic observations of what the article says; I really try to confine myself to comment after checking other sources about the same subject. - Huji reply 12:12, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! That's great, and relieving, in a very real sense - I thought you don't comment on my articles because you didn't like them... ;) Love, Phaedriel - 13:59, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I will try to review them all and see if I had anything to add to the current comments. - Huji reply 14:01, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is not entierly copied from en, It was spam and I did not it to get deleted, I am still going to work on it. Oysterguitarist 20:33, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! Anyways, it is still very similar to En WP (which is not by itself a problem) and is not completely simplified. I'm sure yiou can fix it with some work. - Huji reply 20:34, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure thing! :)[change source]

I'll be most happy to help, dear Huji :) One thing to keep in mind, tho, is that the recent creation of Category:Stubs has had the only negative side effect of removing all uncategorized stubs from Special:Uncategorizedpages. For this reason, a thorough check of this new category may be needed in order to detect and review the stubs that have no category assigned yet. Or, maybe we could temporarily remove the categorization line from {{stub}}, and make a list for us to work on. What do you think? Love, Phaedriel - 20:13, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I re-nominated you for admin. Your last nom mainly failed for low main edits (over 1K now) and because of a slow checkuser reply (Lizzix's vote would not have counted had the checkuser results gotten reported in time). The last one should have been a passing vote, hopefully this one will correct that mistake. -- Creol(talk) 09:30, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if it was up to myself, I would have postpone a second RfA to some time later. However, I respect you as a good member with many skills, and am not going to turn down your offer.
By the way, even if Lizzix's vote was not counted, I wouldn't earn admin rights, or would have earn it with a not-that-robust consensus, which is not good, in my own point of view.
With special thanks, - Huji reply 12:37, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interwikis[change source]

Brilliant! It's much smaller than it was when we started so I think that it has been a success.
When taking the ones in bold into consideration, lots of them will never be created on En Wiki - just one example - the article "Characters in Inyu Ashi" will never get interwikis because the En Wiki article has a list of them but merged into the Inyu Ashi article along with plots, history etc whilst ours are split up into different articles.

But I don't think that these few articles will slow our progress much, there are lots of articles on En Wiki without interwikis and they have almost 2 MILLION articles!

Congrats on your recent admin nomination by the way, you'll pass with flying colours!

Template:Olympic Games changes[change source]

Something you did to {{Olympic Games}} caused it to not show properly when placed on articles (see this for an example). Could you please fix it so that it displays properly? Thank you. · Tygartl1·talk· 14:15, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sure! When I did that, I checked two or three articles, and it worked okay. I'm going to see what the problem is and fix it. - Huji reply 15:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it now longer has that weird bit of code on the article pages, but now we don't have links to the notes for those specific years that the Games were not held or had another strange occurence. I'm curious as to what is wrong with leaving those subscript numbers in? · Tygartl1·talk· 15:49, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is what I think: the informatin about those exceptional years should be offered in Article namespace, not in Template namespace. So I believe, it would be a good idea to create a subcestion in Summer Olympic Games and put the details there, then we can make those years link to this subsection of the page. What do you think? - Huji reply 15:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that would be fine. · Tygartl1·talk· 19:18, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm done with it. - Huji reply 22:40, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion[change source]

Did you really mean to mark your user page for quick deletion? If so, I will delete it. I'm guessing you were trying to add a link to the QD requests, but I didn't want to fix it for you without being sure. :-) · Tygrrr·talk· 14:24, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My user page? No! But if you mean User:Huji/Interwiki, the answer is yes. I don't need it anymore, as it seems I am the only one who is doing this dirty job now, and it can be done using Special:Withoutinterwiki. - Huji reply 14:26, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's what I figured. I have fixed it for you. :-) P.S. I also do that "dirty job" often but I prefer to use the Withoutinterwiki page. We'll get it to a manageable level eventually. Keep up the excellent work doing thankless jobs. · Tygrrr·talk· 14:42, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
