Would you mind commenting on my PGA?
London Underground 2009 Stock is currently at PGA, and is nearing the end of it's three week period. I was wondering if you could comment on it, and if it was ready see if we can form a consensus to promote.
Thank you,

You do not apply the correct standards for GA
You apply standards, like comprehensiveness, that have no basis whatsoever in the GA criteria. IMO, you should be blocked from GA Purplebackpack89 (talk) 19:55, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- Please, forgive me for believing good articles should be "good". :) –Juliancolton | Talk 19:55, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- No, you should be blocked from GA. Julian is doing a very good job at ensuring we get good articles, i.e. comprehensive and complete, on this wiki. People like you are not helping at all. Please, if you want to help then don't worry about other articles and add things to your own article. If things are missing, add them. You could have made it a VGA with the amount of useless discussion that has taken place. Goblin 19:57, 26 September 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Kennedy!
- He clearly applied a standard that is nowhere mentioned in GA. The article passed reviews in all areas, and his use of illegal GA criteria is what sunk it. There is no comprehensiveness requirement for GA, that's VGA and should only be addressed in VGA. He is being completely unfair. Purplebackpack89 (talk) 20:02, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'll try this again. The word "good" is defined as "satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree"; in order for a good article to be good, it must be "satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree". I frankly don't care what the criteria say, I want good articles to be of a high enough quality to be good. –Juliancolton | Talk 20:04, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- You absolutely cannot ignore the criteria like that. That is completely unacceptable Purplebackpack89 (talk) 20:08, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- You think good articles should be poor because we're too lazy to work on them? –Juliancolton | Talk 20:09, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Of course not. I think 1) the criteria needs to be followed to the letter, or else it's meaningless; 2) articles that meet the criteria should be made GA no matter what; and 3) if you "frankly don't care what the criteria is", you should first stop using GA with your made-up criteria and then maybe propose new criteria Purplebackpack89 (talk) 20:34, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- What you've said is directly contradictory. Here is a yes-or-no question and I want a yes-or-no answer: do you believe good articles should be "good"? I don't want a lecture on what the criteria says, mind. –Juliancolton | Talk 20:37, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- By the written criteria, yes. By any other criteria, even by a sysop, is irrelevent. I know you don't want a lecture on this, but I'm afraid you need one. Purplebackpack89 (talk) 20:42, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- I asked for a yes-or-no answer. Do you, or do you not, believe that good articles should be "good" by any and all standards? It's not hard. –Juliancolton | Talk 20:43, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not going to answer that question because with it follows the assumption that the standards you apply are at least as important as the standards on the PGA page, which they are not. I'm giving you a nuanced answer to explain that no other criteria other than the ones written on the GA need be applied. Any article that was truly awful or undeserving is bound to meet several of those. Purplebackpack89 (talk) 20:49, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Bureaucrats
Hi Juliancolton. You might remember me from enwiki, when I asked you a query months ago. In any case, I have another question I'd like to ask in regards to bureaucrats. 2008 Atlantic hurricane season
Hey its me again, I thought I would take a little break from creating articles on English Wikipedia. Well any, I have seen that template {{complex}} in the header on the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season page. I was just wanting to know, what did/do (you posted that template in October 2008) you find to complex for some readers to understand? There is another question I have for you, what needs to be updated on the 2008 AHS article? Thanks! --12george1 (talk) 22:48, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
That was actually a serious question
Not sure why you reverted my question here. The Obama page is listed as "Wikipedia protected pages without expiry." Doesn't that mean I shouldn't have been able to edit it? I wouldn't have even tried except I assumed it would be rejected when I hit submit.
- Because you could have simply asked without intentionally vandalizing. I removed the inapplicable protection template. –Juliancolton | Talk 22:35, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for explaining. I'm sorry I tested on that of all pages. I was just curious what message it would print. No idea it would actually go through and I was going to remove it but someone beat me to it. Sorry again.
About article
Don't you think the article Sarey Savy should be created this time with a stub and unreferenced tag at least? I believe it's notable but, i've seen it tagged for speedy deletion all the time. - More on the 1910 Cuba hurricane, I just looked at the references and there is "date inconsistency", that is some of the dates are day month year, and some are month day year. I think it is the ref template that does this. While it it very minor, it is the sort of thing that TRM will notice. In fact he has got me looking for it now. --Peterdownunder (talk) 05:21, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Recusal
I would like to ask you to recuse yourself from closing Clementina's RfA. It appears that you have already made up your mind well before this has fully played out. You stated in IRC yesterday that you have already written your closing statement and that, barring any major changes, would close it as such. Now your statement on the RfA page itself shows your mindset of how you intend or are thinking of closing this RfA. I do not think that a 'crat should be making statements like that on the RfA page with 30 hours to go, or telling others he has written his closing statement with about 36 hours to go. I ask that you step back and allow another 'crat to make this decision in closing. Thank you, Either way (talk) 09:46, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree. I often view RfAs and consider the end result well before their ending time – on multiple projects. This has no bearing on my judgment or ability to listen to community consensus. The RfA is well below the 75%, so failing it is a very real option, but I have not disclosed my current thinking on how I would close it if I were the sole reviewing bureaucrat. Barring additional requests for me to steer clear of closing this particular RfA, I still intend to participate. –Juliancolton | Talk 11:47, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
- I respect you, but, I believe that it is far too soon to discuss the outcome of this RFA, especially while it still runs. You deserve from me that I be above board and honest with regards to my opinion. I think it would be in the interest of the candidate and the project if you did recuse yourself from only this RFA given your public comments on the RFA. I'm not speaking as a crat here, but as a fellow editor with another fellow editor with whom I have great respect for. Sometimes it is not only about actions, but instead, perceptions count here as well. And I know intent and perception is two very different things. I echo Either way's request, and with great respect I do so. Yours, Jon@talk:~$ 12:01, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi Julian! In this case I also have to agree with Either way that you shouldn't close the RfA. I really was a bit disappointed yesterday as you posted on IRC that you already have written the closing statement. I normally don't care who takes the decision even if the closing crat is involved, but this yesterday was not a wisely post. Please take this advice and don't close the RFA to don't create a drama. Best, -Barras talk 12:11, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
- I wholly and thoroughly disagree that there would be any issue in me closing the RfA, but I have no interest in getting involved. –Juliancolton | Talk 14:10, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
