Welcome to Simple English Wikipedia[change source]

Hi, Justinandrew815, welcome to Simple English Wikipedia! Thank you for your changes. If you need help, check out the Help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page. Whenever leaving messages on talk pages, please remember to sign your name by typing four 'tildes' (like this: ~~~~); doing this makes your name and the date show up. Also, it helps if you write something in the box that says 'change summary' whenever you change an article. Below are some useful links to make your time here simpler. Happy changing! May 2016[change source]

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Former municipalities of Bern. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 18:52, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Very short articles[change source]

@Justinandrew815: There is a conversation going on at Wikipedia talk:Notability in which you may be interested. One-line stub articles that consist only of a sentence or two that goes something like "X is a place in Y" are considered by some editors here as being too short to keep. There are suggestions they be converted to a single list article by geographical area while other editors suggest they be deleted. Some are of the opinion to keep them in the hopes other editors will improve them. You may want to participate in the discussion. Another alternative is you may want to expand the articles you have created to a paragraph or two to make sure they would not be affected. This is about very short geographical articles in general and not specifically any particular region, country or the editors who have created them. We have thousands of these. Just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't be taken off-guard if a decision is reached. Thank you. User:Rus793 (talk) 13:28, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Using Commons templates[change source]

Hello, Justin. Thanks for all the Switzerland-related articles you've created. Thanks especially for including Commons category templates -- that often gets overlooked. When you include the Commons templates, would you please put them in the right format? As an example of what I mean, here is the way you coded one recently:

{{Commonscat|Category:Fraubrunnen|Fraubrunnen}}

Here is the way that template is designed to be used:

{{Commonscat|Fraubrunnen}}

Since the template already "knows" it's pointing to a category on Commons (that's why it's called Commonscat), it doesn't need the word category in the parameter.

One other note: in articles as short as these, the output from the Commons template can end up way at the bottom of the page, after the infobox. When that happens, you can tighten up the display by using the inline form of the template. That would look like this:

{{Commonscat-inline|Fraubrunnen}}

Please consider using this form in cases where it would shorten the page. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 03:59, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

July 2016[change source]

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Regions in Iceland. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 06:49, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Districts of Lucerne. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 17:15, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a patroller![change source]

Hello, Justin. I have given you the patroller right. I did this because the articles you create are good enough that they don't need to be patrolled. Having this right means that pages you create will be auto-patrolled and not show up as needing to be patrolled by others.

This right also gives you the ability to mark new pages as patrolled if you want to. You don't have to do that, though. If you want to, just make sure the ones you mark are in good shape, or add templates to them to indicate problems. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:11, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mosen, Lucerne[change source]

Hi, Justin. Would you take a look at this article that you created? There's something causing errors in the infobox display. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 18:28, 2 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reference sections[change source]

Hi, Justin. I noticed in some of your recently created articles that there was no reference section, even though there were references. When an article has references, there needs to be a reference section. Maybe you're not noticing the references because they're in the infobox? Thanks, and feel free to ask any questions you might have about this. --Auntof6 (talk) 20:53, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, again. I'm seeing this same problem in articles you created recently. When an article has references, it needs a reference section with the {{reflist}} template. Please be sure to include this where necessary. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 19:17, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Patroller right revoked[change source]

I'm sorry to tell you that I have removed your patroller right. This is because many of your new articles have needed patrolling. Specifically, they were missing reference sections even though they had references. I left you messages about this, and you didn't respond, neither on the talk page nor by including reference sections in later articles. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 09:02, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion of Betten[change source]

The page you wrote, Betten, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. Rus793 (talk) 19:04, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The information in Betten is a word-for-word match to the copyrighted article at https://etrigg.com/location/betten-switzerland-betten-switzerland/3592387/. Wikipedia cannot accept things copied from these sources as it can get Wikipedia into serious legal trouble. The article or changes have been or may soon be deleted. Helping with a research project in Simplification[change source]

Hello Justin,

I'm reaching out to you because I am working on a research project on simplification and am looking to collaborate with domain experts.

A quick introduction: I am a researcher interested in text simplification and am working towards publishing a resource in text simplification based on Simple Wikipedia (quite a rich encyclopedia). We believe this resource, which we will make public, could be valuable to educate and increasing awareness of text simplification.

Some colleagues and I are looking to collaborate with domain experts in the creation of the resource. We've secured some budget for our research project, so there's the possibility to remunerate a few experts that would work with us.

I do not mean to spam you, so feel free to disregard/delete if you feel this is inappropriate (and I apologize). On the other hand, if you are interested, please feel free to reach out, either directly on Wikipedia or by email (phillab@berkeley.edu) and I would be happy to tell you more.

Thank you, and sorry again if you feel this is inappropriate,

Philippe Laban
