Please stop nominating my Australian slang redirects for deletion. Redirects aren't just for typos. These are common words used here in Australia. Please remove these notices. Thanks. 110.150.13.4 (talk) 11:34, 1 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MathXplore. If you are going to make many changes like you did just now, please request flood on my or another admin's talk page, the administrators' noticeboard or #wikipedia-simple connect channel on IRC. Thanks! --Ferien (talk) 07:15, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

African officer holding a position that is a stepping-stone for a notable position[change source]

Thank you for your sure hand, in regard to nominating articles for Delete/Deletion. (This one got closed early, arguably: Talk:Birhanu Bekele.--There are enough bigger fish to fry - so I will look forward to a new nomination (from anyone) during the summer, or later.) 89.8.173.218 (talk) 07:58, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In future, please do not edit closed discussions. MathXplore (talk) 08:13, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it was due to close on 6 February, but closed a day before. (I will try to be more careful, while I work toward "my" deletion discussion number two thousand.) 89.8.173.218 (talk) 08:25, 6 February 2022 (UTC) 89.8.173.218 (talk) 08:26, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lawyer categories[change source]

First, thanks for the help. There are a ton of American lawyer articles that need seperating. But a comment; when creating/aiming the cats remember to check the sort key. For the lawyers from <city> there will be 2 keys. First is <city>. This one is for cats "..From <state>" and "..from state by city". The secong is <lawyer>. This one would be for "..from <city> by occupation:=". As the default sort is pagename if not changed with the DEFAULTSORT tag, this wont be needed here. All pages here would be sorted as "Lawyers from..." (this realy applies to the other creater but tossing it up here as well) I've gone through and added sort keys where needed but please keep this in mind for future actions. 15:34, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

RfD nomination of Category:National football teams by continent[change source]

An editor has requested deletion of Category:National football teams by continent, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Category:National football teams by continent and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. --Ferien (talk) 17:36, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MathXplore,

Thank you for helping to add the subsection for this article. I initially created the same article and published. Within a few moment, I received a speed deletion message. I immediately simplified the article and told the first version was deleted. Please inform whomever deleted the first version not to do that as the creator is still editing.

By the way, what will be the time limit before any administrator will delete? Please let me know as I will be copy-edit some of the articles from the English wiki. Thank you. Flipchip73 (talk) 08:40, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm very afraid to mention that I do not have any authority to order/command administrators to postpone deletion. If you don't want your articles to be deleted, please make it simple before or immediately after article creation.
In addition, there is no explicitly declared time limit for deletion. This is the reason we encourage editors to make things simple before or immediately after creation.MathXplore (talk) 08:50, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I understand your difficulty. I was unable to see who deleted the article. My article creation stats looks bad and it is nothing to do with you. I will be careful next time.Flipchip73 (talk) 08:59, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![change source]

Barnstar Congratulations: You have been given a Barnstar!

i don't have any words to thanks you but this is for your work, dedication

Hello MathXplore Help me here please! Claiming that these movies (The Game of Death and Game of Death) are duplicates is FALSE! Can you hel me? Please please please 185.167.52.108 (talk) 13:08, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Duty of explanation goes to the author. If you cannot defend the article by yourself, that means it is too fast for you to make articles. In addition, asking intervention for your benefit is not allowed at here. Please read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry#Meatpuppetry for details. If you continue to ask editors to support you at QD disputes or RfD, I have to report about you to WP:VIP because that is an alternative form of vandalism. MathXplore (talk) 12:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Thanks for your explanation but the page is not a duplicate 185.167.52.108 (talk) 13:13, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you would like to express your opinions, please use Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/The Game of Death, not here. MathXplore (talk) 13:16, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I do not have the authority to do that, please wait for admin response. MathXplore (talk) 13:03, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
ok thank you 185.167.52.108 (talk) 15:01, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Broken files[change source]

When you copy over info from en.wiki as you did on Welsh Labour Party, remember to remove any dead files. En.wikis policy on images is looser than Commons' so we often dont have the image they use. This is often the case on things like songs, albums and movies but also crops up with most logos. Always preview your changes and check to see if an unexpected error category was added (they are usually in the hidden section). --Creol(talk) 14:35, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the advice. MathXplore (talk) 15:13, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging[change source]

I can't understand what that anonymous is doing about in User talk:202.84.42.187/2-message rule ignoring license. I saw you put qd request. Could you please explain what was that person trying to say? Haoreima (talk) 13:08, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about the objective but I'm sure it is a personal attack going to QD G10. MathXplore (talk) 13:09, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reaction to their action. Haoreima (talk) 13:14, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DEFAULTSORT[change source]

Hi, MathXplore. I noticed that you added categories and a stub template to François Mathey -- thanks for doing that! When you're doing that kind of work, please add a DEFAULTSORT to articles that need it. For example, this article needed {{DEFAULTSORT:Mathey, Francois}}. The DEFAULTSORT goes right before the categories, and any letters with diacritics (such as the 5th letter in this person's given name) have the diacritic removed. See Wikipedia:Categories#Sorting_of_people for more information on this, and Wikipedia:Categories#Sorting for more information about other times when a DEFAULTSORT might be needed. As always, feel free to ask any questions you might have. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:55, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, one more thing: when you add a stub template, please put two blank lines before it. That's so that the text from the template is separated more from the text of the article. Thanks! --Auntof6 (talk) 23:02, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Empty categories[change source]

Hi, MathXplore. Just for future reference, if you want to save yourself some trouble, you don't have to tag large numbers of empty categories. They show up under Special:UnusedCategories and we can find them from there. In fact, I was processing that special page when I noticed all the ones you had tagged. --Auntof6 (talk) 06:34, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

And in processing those, I noticed that you had emptied a lot of births and deaths categories for specific years. I assume you did that because they had fewer than 3 entries in them. You might not have known that those kinds of chronology categories are exceptions to the 3-entry rule. I have declined the QDs you requested for those and undid changes to articles. If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to ask. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:45, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know the exception, thank you for the response. MathXplore (talk) 07:46, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you ever see something this big again that you think needs to be cleaned up, you might want to discuss it first. :) --Auntof6 (talk) 07:53, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And the 3-entry rule is mostly for content categories, not administrative categories, although I at least stick to it for some administrative categories as well. -- Auntof6 (talk) 07:54, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) It's also just a rule of thumb, not an actual rule. For example some treat 3 as a minimum and others treat it like if I have 3 then I should create a category when really you should only be creating a category when the parent category is too big and needs to be split apart although as mentioned above chronology categories like births and deaths make more sense to be create no matter how many you have. One of our goals here is to have less categories than English Wikipedia. Our category system is supposed to be simple like our language. -Djsasso (talk) 15:59, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
