Battle of Uri[change source]

You moved Battle of Uri (2022) to Battle of Uri. However, the references I found online seem to mention a battle of Uri around 1947-48. [1] Moreover, I'm not sure this battle of Uri in 2022 really exists, although I haven't read all the sources. If several thousand people died, you would think there would be a mention on enwiki, right? But although there is a mention of an attack in 2016 at en:Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, there is no mention of anything happening in 2022. Lights and freedom (talk) 00:48, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted the page move. The author of this page is also active at enwiki, and might be preparing an article over there so let's wait answers from him/her. MathXplore (talk) 00:53, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We can talk about this at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Battle of Uri (2022). MathXplore (talk) 10:06, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

you who know everything why don't you put references Just Dance 2016 to that and remove the deletion from my article and said.AndreasJacksonville (talk) 05:36, 1 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an expert of video games, so I'll leave that task for video game fans. As I already explained at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Bleu Clair and your user talk page, others have joined the discussion, so I do not have the authority to withdraw. RFD tags must remain during discussion so that others can know there is a debate. RFD tag removal without a good reason is a disruption against the community. Your email is set to not receive email from other users, which I understand. Would you mind email me? I'd like to have a brief chat with you, if you don't mind. Operator873 connect 04:24, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pages that need to be simplified categories[change source]

Hi, I saw some new categories that you made. Category:Pages needing to be simplified and Category:Monthly clean-up category (Pages needing to be simplified) counter seem like duplicates of Category:Complex pages and Category:Monthly clean-up category (Complex pages) counter. It seems the standard is to use the coding which you can see on Category:Pages needing to be simplified from August 2022, even though you created that category too  :-) Lights and freedom (talk) 16:25, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Yes, they are duplicates. The maintenance categories for complex pages have a slightly different setup than other maintenance categories. They need parameters specified in the monthly cleanup cat template. I believe I have fixed the setup of the September category, and I have deleted these categories which became empty as a result. -- Auntof6 (talk) 18:40, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can you move this into article-space? It is ready for publishment. Please give me feedback whether my simplification on new articles is going well or not. Have a good day :) DMK-C5 (talk) 10:03, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do for User:DMK-C5/Nick Saban as well. Since I'm new and don't have autoconfirm rights, so I can't move. DMK-C5 (talk) 10:40, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Roma or Romani[change source]

Hello, about the name, Roma is the people while Romani the language, but in English I see often that Romani is also called the people, why is that? Nalanidil (talk) 12:45, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should find an expert about this question. I just moved the pages per enwiki so users who came from other projects can find the simple version page without extra trouble. MathXplore (talk) 12:48, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, the problem is the English term, because officially the name is Roma for the people and not Romani.
http://rombase.uni-graz.at/cgi-bin/art.cgi?src=data/ethn/topics/family-names.en.xml Nalanidil (talk) 12:58, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly suggest you to find an expert or English teacher about this question. To get answers from others you can use WP:ST at our project. If you didn't get an answer at here, an enwiki portal (or any other place to ask questions) may be able to help you. MathXplore (talk) 13:05, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, I know that the correctly name is roma and not romani. Also here again you can see
Roma and Sinti: https://www.ushmm.org/m/pdfs/2000926-Roma-and-Sinti.pdf
Romani is the term for the language Nalanidil (talk) 14:50, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done Very glad to hear that. If you know the answer, then you don't have to ask me. If there is something I have to do, please let me know. MathXplore (talk) 15:14, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Romani people in the USA[change source]

Hello, I see there is this article Romani_Americans

yet also articles Romani_people_in_Texas and Romani_people_in_California

I think it is better that all of this pages should went to the first Romani_Americans Nalanidil (talk) 16:30, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please talk about that at the article's talk page so others can easily join the discussion. I want you to understand that not all users are talk page stalkers. MathXplore (talk) 16:32, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote it there in the article talk page, but maybe and admin should have a look to move the pages Nalanidil (talk) 17:49, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
 Done MathXplore (talk) 01:36, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
After the move, an IP editor reverted it. Use Talk:Romani Americans for discussions. MathXplore (talk) 12:17, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion of Muntasir Billah Mahdi[change source]

The page you wrote, Muntasir Billah Mahdi, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. MathXplore (talk) 08:25, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Antiziganism[change source]

can that be, that you are against me? as I see you have written something against me, yes I am blocked partially in the topic romani people in english wikipida but not on the pages Muslim Roma, Turkish Roma , romani peoiple in turkey. Have a look before you made false statemants against me Nalanidil (talk) 11:39, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not against any user. If I was against you, I would not work out your requests about Romani Americans (although an IP editor reverted it). By the way, you should already have understood the importance of giving citations. Please do not waste the lessons that you got before. If you think I said something wrong about you, you may leave your comments at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Romani and Category:Roma. And a reminder, WP:ONESTRIKE seems to include partially blocked users, a recent example is here. MathXplore (talk) 11:49, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Im not blocked to wrote in english wikipedia by other romani people pages, as I explained you, only partially about the romani people page. Nalanidil (talk) 11:53, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And this partially block is made by a person who have no knowledge about the roma people, this was the reason she gave me a partiall block. Think about. But i see, this is Antiziganism against my person. Nalanidil (talk) 11:54, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you have something to say about enwiki, make a request at your enwiki user talk page. Complaining at here will not change anything. MathXplore (talk) 11:55, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I didnt have interest to wrote anything in romani people page in english wikipedia, only about xoraxane roma, especially the turkish speaking roma Nalanidil (talk) 13:00, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can say that again to the enwiki admins, not to me. Complaining at here will not change anything. MathXplore (talk) 13:02, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I give allways sources, as you see, I didnt wrote anything without sources. But my sources is said something not reliable by other uses ...but without statmeant why? Nalanidil (talk) 11:52, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't track all of your edits. You can ask that to the editor that reverted your changes, or the article talk pages. MathXplore (talk) 11:53, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Nalanidil, please stop edit warring. This is against our rules. As MathXplore explained, go to the particular page and report it if you have any problems. DMK-C5 (talk) 12:09, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From next time, use {{tps}} when joining discussions at others user talk pages. MathXplore (talk) 12:11, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have forgotten to add it DMK-C5 (talk) 12:21, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I don't think writing on user talk pages are edit warring, so your message may need correction for accuracy. MathXplore (talk) 12:18, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for that. DMK-C5 (talk) 12:21, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
which edit warring? in which case? Nalanidil (talk) 12:57, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can ask that at User talk:DMK-C5 rather than here. MathXplore (talk) 12:59, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Why I should? this user @DMK-C5 A newcomer writes such statements against me on your talk page.
But don't worry, I understand what this is all about. This Users wants me out of simple english because of my turkish roma descent. I can see what's going against me here. But don't worry, I won't write anything more on your talkpage. The issue is resolved for me. Nalanidil (talk) 13:10, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Keep Muktokathan. It's a notable magazine from Bangladesh.[change source]

Hello, Keep Muktokathan. It's a notable magazine from Bangladesh. But this magazine is not news coverage a lot. MetaContributor (talk) 15:30, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please say that at the RFD. MathXplore (talk) 15:45, 8 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think you could use WP:QD#A4 sometimes instead of going straight to RFD? In particular, video games are products, so they would qualify. That would help keep RFD from getting as bloated as it is sometimes. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:57, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) @Auntof6 if you are talking about Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Maxxed Out Racing: Nitro, then I'm agree with you. If I'm in MathX's place, I can move to QD. DMK-C5 (talk) 07:05, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@DMK-C5: No, please don't change any of the ones that are already at RFD. This was for future reference. -- Auntof6 (talk) 07:08, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6, I was just telling I am in Math's place, I could have move to QD, but as RfD is placed, nothing can be done except giving consent at there. ( P.S.: My comments needs more correction god-daam!) DMK-C5 (talk) 07:14, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The tense of that article is problematic, but it may have meant to describe the differences from other games, I counted that as notability claims with the introductory sentences. MathXplore (talk) 07:09, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Just being different from other games does not make a game notable. In any case, I was referring to other articles as well, not just that one. -- Auntof6 (talk) 13:12, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adding Tags[change source]

Hello MathXplore, I see you added the stub tag to A836 road, and I was in the midst of editing it and in the follwoing edit conflict I tried to save my changes but ended up doing this In future would it be possible for you to wait about 5 minutes before adding a stub tag or categories because there's a good chance I'm still editing the article myself because if not I would have added the tag myself. Thanks. N1TH Music (talk) 13:56, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, when doing that you may want to use {{Under construction}} for your stubs. This might be needed so others can easily notice. MathXplore (talk) 13:58, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not so sure about using an under construction stub as I usually only make about 5 revisions over the span of a few minutes and I doubt anyone else would edit a new page so quickly except you and one other editor and I've already asked him the same thing so I think everything should be ok. N1TH Music (talk) 17:08, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't disagree that having it Funland. Rehoboth Beach, Delaware might be a bit overkill, but I think it would be better to have it be Funland. Rehoboth Beach, as there is a Funland of Fredricksberg. and Funland of Faixfax. Is it OK to change it to Funland, Rehoboth Beach? 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 03:07, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Done MathXplore (talk) 03:27, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks. The only thing I'm not sure of, maybe you can tell me if this is a good idea or not, should it be like this (Rehoboth Beach), or is that wrong? I'm not sure which is gramitically correct. 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 03:30, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not wrong. Although for articles about places, commas are often used for disambiguation. MathXplore (talk) 03:33, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha, so it's just overkill then. OK, thanks for explaining. Just out of curousity, are you an administrator, or just a user? I see you around a lot, so I'm just curious. 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 04:28, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just a normal user. You can find admins at WP:ADMIN. MathXplore (talk) 06:09, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, Cool. Last question. I see it also looks like you have a regular Wkipedia page as well. Can you update the regular Wikipeida page of the article to reflect the changes made on this version? I can't because it's semi protected, but if it wasn't semi protected, I'd do it myself. The page is currently wrong, and is heavly outdated. If you could do so, it would be very much apprecieated. Here's the link of the last correct version to make it easier to update https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Funland_(Rehoboth_Beach,_Delaware)&oldid=1087525593. The article currently also still has the name Fuland, Rehoboth Beach, Delware, so feel free to fix the name of it as well. Sorry again for asking you to do this, but it really needs to be fixed, and I don't know who else to ask. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 06:54, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't accept enwiki-related requests at here. Requests related to enwiki should only be done enwiki, not at anywhere else. MathXplore (talk) 07:23, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so I should write you on your talk page on there then? 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 07:26, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, use the article's talk page, not anywhere else, this makes others to join discussions and figure out what's going on. Generally, edit requests of protected pages should be done at their own talk page. MathXplore (talk) 07:42, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would, except I can't because no editors there seem to understand the importance of the park. They think all the information I've provided is either false or not important, so they kept removing it. They also accused me of edit warring so they protected the page, and my IP address is temporarily blocked as well. That's why I've been looking for somebody that understood the importance of the park to correct it. I figured if a known user made the edits, other editors would leave it alone. I feel like the only reason they think I'm wrong is cause I'm using an IP address. However, I know a huge amount about the park, and none of them know anything about the park, nor have they ever been there. That's why I've asked you for help, as it seems like you care and want things to look good and articles to have importantant information. I'm sorry for asking, I really am. I just don't what else to do. 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 07:53, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, the first thing you have to do is to make an unblock request at enwiki. I can help some easy style formatting tasks, but that is all I can do. I never visited Delaware and I'm not an amusement park expert, so I'm far away to understand the importance that you claim. If possible, I think asking help to a local resident Wikipedian could be an alternative option, although I don't know how many users are close to Rehoboth Beach. MathXplore (talk) 08:09, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I get what you're saying. My thought was based on you being what looks like a well known editor, if you tweaked the last correct version to line up with how the version on here, then other editors wouldn't question it, and would leave it alone. That's the only reason I asekd you. I just wanted a user with a good retuation to fix it, and I don't know any other editors that would even consider it. So, again I appologize for asking, but I just don't see any other really good options here. I sorta feel like my back is against the wall. I hope you understand what I mean. Not trying to be mean, rude or pushy. I'm just sorta desperate at this point as I really LOVE Funland and want it to get the attention it deserves. I have no conflict of interest, as I'm just a patron, but I know a lot more than just the average patron. 2600:4040:21D4:700:10A4:9E9A:B0B4:99F (talk) 08:20, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Categories for musical groups[change source]

Hi, MathXplore. You might not have known, but where there's a category for a musical group, the only category you put it in is Category:Categories named after musical groups. All other categories go on the article for the group. I just changed the category you created for Boyz II Men, but please change the others yourself. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:06, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Done MathXplore (talk) 06:09, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! By the way, it's similar for some other categories. See Category:Eponymous categories for the ones this applies to. -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:12, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MathXplore. I saw that you put a popcat template on this category. That's fine, but if the category doesn't get more articles you don't need to nominate it for deletion or anything. An exception to the 3-entry rule is certain chronology categories -- not all chronology categories, but some of them. If not for that exception, I wouldn't have created the category. You'll note that we don't have popcat templates on categories like Category:1356 births; it's the same here. I don't think the popcat template is needed here, but I guess it doesn't hurt to leave it as long as no one tries to get it deleted.

FYI, another exception to the 3-entry rule is categories that complete a set. You can see a couple of examples of this in Category:Species by NatureServe conservation status. There are five levels of NatureServe conservation status; you can see them at en:NatureServe_conservation_status#Numbers. Two of the subcategories of Category:Species by NatureServe conservation status each have only two entries, but that's OK because they are there to be part of a set. Another example is Category:Hawaii counties; when I created that, there were only two entries, but it completed the set of counties in the US by state. I don't think a category should be created to be part of a set if the category is empty, however.

You just have to be careful what you look at as a set. It's easy to think that something like different genres of movies for a given year, or different years for a given genre of movie, would be a set, but that's not the kind of set in question for category creation. This kind of set should have a limited, well-defined number of entries. For example, for counties in the US by state, there can be only 50; having the Hawaii one missing could be a problem for people looking at that topic. For a long time I've been thinking of trying to increase the kinds of categories we can create with fewer than 3 entries, but in a controlled manner. I'd worry that people would go overboard and create a lot of 1- or 2- entry categories that aren't the kind we'd want.

I hope this all makes sense. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And thanks for all the category work you do! -- Auntof6 (talk) 00:23, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

can I redirect Bro to Brother? — Preceding unsigned comment added by DMK-C5 (talkcontribs) 03:42, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

 Done MathXplore (talk) 03:43, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @DMK-C5: It probably shouldn't be redirected to Brother, for at least 2 reasons:
  • Brother is already a redirect, so this would be a double redirect which is not a good thing.
  • Bro has other meanings. See en:Bro for examples.
Besides that, nothing currently links to it so there's not even a need to have the page. If we do have it, it should probably make it a dab page. See en:Bro for an example. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:07, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

QD requests for uncommon typos[change source]

Hi, MathXplore. When you make a QD request and specify the "uncommon typo" option, please be sure that the title actually is a typo. "Autonomous Oblasts of Russia" and "Autonomous Oblast of Russia" are not typos, just different terms. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 03:21, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

According to the reference reliability checker that I'm using from my common.js page, the 4th reference (wordpress.com) is marked as unreliable. Please consider a substitute if possible. MathXplore (talk) 03:43, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MathXplore. When you make a deletion request for a template that is in use, as you did with Template:Pp-extended and Template:Swift Xi, please add noinclude tags around the RFD template. Redirects to non-existent pages[change source]

Thanks for tagging those for deletion. FYI, though, they would show up the next time Special:BrokenRedirects is updated, and I for one check those regularly. -- Auntof6 (talk) 08:09, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Adding items to RFDs[change source]

It's generally not good to add items to an existing RFD. That can be for either of two reasons:

  1. People may have already looked at the RFD and decided they didn't want to comment on the original item(s), but they might have wanted to comment on the added item(s).
  2. People who have already commented might have had a different opinion on the added item(s) than they did on the original one(s).

In either case, people might not see the added item(s). You can always ping people who have commented, but you can't tell who has looked and not commented. It's probably not a big deal on the current diaspora RFD, but please keep this in mind. Thanks. -- Auntof6 (talk) 20:48, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
