List of religions[change source]

On list of religions, Braniac 9999 had vandalized the page by adding the section. I realized this because Wicca is not an Abrahamic religion, and New Age is not a type of Wicca. See also their talk page. Just wanted to let you know. Lights and freedom (talk) 18:52, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MathXplore. You might not have known, but when you put a template into a non-template category, the sort key on the template should be "τ" (lower-case Greek letter tau). I noticed that you used a space on this template. I have changed it to the tau symbol. If you aren't sure how to get the symbol, here are a couple of ways:

  • Use {{subst:tau}} where you want the tau to be.
  • When editing in source mode, click on "Special characters", choose "Greek" from the dropdown box at the left, and select the tau character. That character appears between what look like a regular upper case T and Y.

For documentation on this and other special sort keys, see Wikipedia:Categories#Special_sorting, under "Special character sort keys". If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. -- Auntof6 (talk) 04:55, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of Swift Xi Inc[change source]

An editor has requested deletion of Swift Xi Inc, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Swift Xi Inc and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. DMK-C5 (talk) 07:34, 3 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming users?[change source]

What is the policy on using the welcome template? DerekSquared (talk) 06:13, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if we had a policy, but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Welcoming_committee and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Guides/Welcome_new_users would be good references for you. Generally, we welcome new users who have already made constructive edits. MathXplore (talk) 06:41, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Carl Zohan (actor)[change source]

Hello,

I have noticed you changed an article name from Carl Zohan (actor) to Carl Zohan. But someone wrote an article with this name last year and that article has been deleted.

Because of your changed, the new article was probably deleted with the previous reason.

So I can't create articles just named Carl Zohan. The one I want to write an article about has enough media coverage. He is an actor.

So I want to create a new article as Carl Zohan (actor/film actor) etc, waiting for your reply.

Thank you Frryan404 (talk) 08:59, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to discuss about the deletion, please use WP:DRV. MathXplore (talk) 09:01, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I talked to him (it seems he agreed) i will write the article with tittle. Do not change the name. Frryan404 (talk) 11:02, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Then make a page with a name that does not need a page move. The page above included unneeded disambiguation and needed a move. Also, you may not have the authority to command against others to refuse page moves. MathXplore (talk) 11:04, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I do not have the rights to command, but I have the rights to explain and I made it clear in the previous replay. You prove that Wikipedia authorities will do as their wish. Frryan404 (talk) 11:15, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you think the page does not need a move, you can use the article's talk page for your explanation. MathXplore (talk) 11:16, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, everyone (of course including me and you) is allowed to do as their wish unless the actions are helpful enough to the project. MathXplore (talk) 11:27, 8 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 161.142.8.31 (talk) 13:04, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You don't have to send messages just for saying hello. As you may already know, this is an encyclopedia, not an online chat service or messenger. MathXplore (talk) 13:06, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Homestuck[change source]

In your opinion, what would demonstrate the notability of Homestuck? Judging by the number of sources on the enwiki page, I definitely think it's notable, and I could help to expand the article, but I have trouble finding anything that would definitely be a claim of notability in itself. The article says that it has over 800,000 words, millions of fans, lasted for seven years, and has been compared to James Joyce's Ulysses, but I don't think that any of these really prove notability. Lights and freedom (talk) 04:41, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't notice the enwiki version, let me take time to check that page first. MathXplore (talk) 04:43, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
My words may not be a direct answer to your question, but generally every page needs significant coverage to prove notability, and I'm sure that this principle applies to the page in concern. I noticed that the enwiki version has a number of sources, but I don't think all of them are significant coverages because some of them look like passing mentions or not having direct connections with the page subject. So when expanding the page, sources must be carefully selected. I agree that the number of words/fans/lasting years do not directly lead to proving notability. In addition, I don't understand why the subject has to be compared with James Joyce's Ulysses.
Anyway, I think the current version is too short and ambiguate to demonstrate the notability, so I'll leave the tag until I confirm article expansion. MathXplore (talk) 05:18, 11 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Okayama FC[change source]

Please do not delete this page[change source]

Dear Administrator, I must disagree with decision A4 because in this article it is explained why the person is remarkable. Camila Samara is an actress and businesswoman known in Brazil, and this is evident in the article as well as in the references. I ask that you reconsider this decision and remove the exclusion template from the article. Thanks Thiagostreet (talk) 03:55, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is a big mistake that needs correction. First I don't have admin rights, check WP:A for those who have that. Admins at here will take care of the page that you created. MathXplore (talk) 04:17, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Thiagostreet: I have deleted the page because I agreed that it did not show notability. In addition, because it has now been deleted for the same reason 4 times this month, I have salted it. If you want to ask for the article to be restored, you can make a request at WP:Deletion review. Before doing that, however, I recommend reading WP:Notability so that you understand what Wikipedia's requirements are for showing that a subject is notable. Note that the term is "notable", not "remarkable": there are many people who are considered remarkable in the world, but who are not notable according to Wikipedia's definition. -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:11, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done Confirmed deletion. Also note that 2 editors (Jolly1253 and me) have previously nominated for quick deletion, and 3 admins accepted the QD nominations. MathXplore (talk) 06:17, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, MathXplore, what are you 1) saying is done and 2) confirming? -- Auntof6 (talk) 06:34, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to say that this discussion is over for now (and should go to deletion review to continue), and I have seen your actions in the recent changes. MathXplore (talk) 06:36, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it isn't extremely important, as admins can change the deletion reason given, but G1 is only for "wgfyvgsf5#q!" kind of nonsense. I also imagine that Arsenal supporters might have got slightly offended after you marked a page saying Arsenal is the best team as nonsense ;) Thanks, --Ferien (talk) 15:21, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged G1 because the title and context did not have correspondence, but I'll keep in mind of your words. MathXplore (talk) 15:25, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
G1 can't be used for cases where the title and content aren't the same. A1 can be used if there's a lack of helpful content but if it's not eligible for quick deletion, is an ok article but is under the wrong title, then the page can just be moved. --Ferien (talk) 16:37, 18 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your warning levels[change source]

Hi MathXplore, thank you for your work. I noticed that you have used incorrect warning levels recently (one good example at User talk:Apenaisdead). Please make sure to use the correct warning levels so it is easier to keep track of! Cheers, Hockeycatcat (talk) (changes) 10:32, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Infernogaming46 gave a level 1 before me, I think things got mixed up after that. MathXplore (talk) 10:37, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MathXplore. You made this change to this template. The change caused an error on List of countries because you put the noinclude tag on a new line. That makes a template add a new line on pages that use the template. In many cases that's not a problem, but with this one it is because of the way the {{flag}} template is used in a list on List of countries.

In general, when a noinclude tag is used in a template it should be on the same line as the preceding text with no spaces, new line, or any other extra code before it. You can look at the fixed version of this template to see what I mean. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. -- Auntof6 (talk) 19:16, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
