June 2018[change source]

Hello! Thank you for creating Category:Locomotive manufacturers. However, we normally need at least three pages in a category before it is created. Because categories are a way to group together similar articles, there is no need to create a new category for just one or two articles. If you think there might be more pages to add to the new category, please add them now. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 21:03, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[change source]

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. SkyGazer 512 (talk) 21:07, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Short articles[change source]

Hi Mock wurzel soup,

Thanks for creating some new articles. If they are a short article, just a few sentences or a paragraph, please add a stub template at the bottom of the page. See mu change to Napier Deltic to see how it is done.

To make them even better, adding a reference really helps too.--Peterdownunder (talk) 21:06, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Heron Quays[change source]

Have a look at the edits I made. You should be able to do all this yourself by now. It means perhaps doing fewer pages, but doing them in better Simple style. On a page which is only of local interest, prefer simpler terms which are well understood, such as 'Oyster card' and 'tube'. Along the same lines, never use "Paris, France" type Americanisms. There's only one Paris, it's the others who need brackets after their names. Anyway, your work is pretty good.

Always remember, English wiki is wonderful for coverage, but a very poor guide on prose. If you want to see bad writing, go to English wiki. It follows that anything brought over from that wiki is likely to be factually sound, but badly written. And don't forget paragraphing! Macdonald-ross (talk) 07:06, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Be aware that is only one opinion. Adding a country after a city is acceptable and in many cases preferable even for major cities like Paris especially on a wiki where it ends up allowing us to link to both Paris and France where relevant. -DJSasso (talk) 18:28, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is confusing. Whatever I do, somebody doesn't like it. Perhaps I should just ignore all advice and use my own judgement. Mock wurzel soup (talk) 18:46, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What I was trying to say was either was acceptable. But yes, generally common sense will get you by on your own judgement. -DJSasso (talk) 13:30, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I can see that it is more complicated than I thought. I will write in more detail at User talk:Macdonald-ross. Mock wurzel soup (talk) 15:14, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
