Welcome

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

If you need help just click here and type {{helpme}} and your question and someone will reply to you shortly. You can also check out the help section of Wikipedia, or leave a message on my talk page.

There is a lot you can do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that have not been created yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Just remember you can not directly copy them. They must be simplified. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us. Happy changing! Griff (talk) 03:55, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Griff. It is pleasant to be welcomed. I do intend to stick around here for a while, so I will make sure to check these out. MrMeAndMrMe (talk) 03:58, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting of change

Hi again! I'm just letting you know that I have reverted one of your changes here. The IP was actually removing a duplicate table, which you can see if you compare the diff. It was a mistake I almost made as well, so I understand, but please be careful when undoing changes in the future. It's always better to double check than to make a mistake. Griff (talk) 05:11, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies and thank you. Will keep in mind in the future. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 05:12, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

February 2022

Hello, MrMeAndMrMe/Archives! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Mahmoud Fawzi". This makes it simpler and easier to read. Please remember to use "Other websites" in articles that you create in the future. Thank you for your help! MathXplore (talk) 06:20, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, MrMeAndMrMe/Archives! Here at Simple English Wikipedia we use the section heading "Other websites" instead of English Wikipedia's "External links", which you used in "Streptophyta". Welcome to Wikipedia. You might not have done it on purpose, but your recent change removed helpful information from Wikipedia. We ask that you do not remove things from pages, as you did to "Terje Nilsen", without giving a good reason in the change summary. If it was a mistake, do not worry. The part of the article you removed has been put back. If you want to try things out, please use the sandbox. If you would like to learn how to help Wikipedia, please see the welcome page. Thank you. Assume good faith Deppiyy (talk) 17:58, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Deppiyy I put a good reason in the change summary and that reason was that there was no reference. Enwiki is not a reference. Furthermore, I put a note on their userpage to say that they can readd that if they want as long as they add a reference. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 17:59, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You should assume good faith. If you have problems with unreferenced information, a {{citation needed}} template should be added. Deppiyy (talk) 18:10, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

3RR and edit warring

Hey there MrMe, I noticed that there was a little bit of an change war that happened at Terje Nilsen. While your reasoning may have been correct, we encourage consensus and discussion over problematic changes. The initial revert was not an issue, but once you begin reverting Deppiyy, both of you should have begun a discussion either on the talk page or at a user talk page. Edit warring can result in a block for both participants, even if you were right. If you feel strongly about the issue, feel free to reach out to an administrator through the noticeboard and it can be reviewed. However, edit warring is never a good option except for obvious vandalism. Thank you for all your help on New Changes Patrol and keep up the great work. Griff (talk) 18:18, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, Griff. Will try to do better next time. Thanks for the compliment in the last sentence. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 20:29, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

Hi, MrMeAndMrMe. Wikipedia is not a dictionary. I respect your request to close Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Ελληνικό αλφάβητο; did not cast a vote there. But..... Totally agree with you "this is ridiculous. Mountain huts in one Italian province - and English-wiki

Hi! These mountain huts are articles at En-wiki:

RFD restriction

Good afternoon MrMe. It's Griff again. As the community continues to try to find a resolution to the future of how we will address redirects in the future, please do not refer any Deppiyy redirects for deletion until we get some idea from the community on what they want to do. Continuing to nominate Deppiyy redirects at RFD will be seen as disruptive and could result in restrictions being placed on you, and I don't want it to get to that point. I encourage you to keep working on your other on-wiki projects, making a note of problematic redirects for future discussion, and as you feel so inclined, contributing to the ST discussion. Thanks for all your thoughts on this issue, and for all your work elsewhere on Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me! Declined QD

Hey MrMe, I've declined the QD request for Francisca Susano, as she is a supercentenarian, and that is a legitimate claim to notability. Now, just to be clear, I am not saying she is notable, or that the article should be kept, but that there is sufficient reason for a discussion to be had regarding the subject rather than sending it through QD. If you feel like it should be deleted, feel free to send it to RFD and I'll come along and review it as part of the process. Thank you *sincerely* for everything you do for the project, it is appreciated. Griff (talk) 02:16, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

References can be added in multiple ways. In the source editor, you can press "cite", then "templates", then cite what you're citing. Put the URL where it says URL and press the search button. Also make sure to put in the date in "access date".
In the visual editor, press "site", press "automatic", then put the link into it. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 18:29, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

minor planet

On the minor planet pages you have created, there is a See also section with "Meanings of minor planet names: #####–######". Do you intend to create those as well? If not, you may want to remove that section from the pages. No need for a see also section when there is nothing to see. Same apples to Hatnotes to redlinks ie. see main article: some red link. Creol (talk) 22:48, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am intending to fully create these eventually, currently I have made and simplified Meanings of minor planet names: 1–1000 MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 22:50, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

While I do absolutely appreciate (and enjoy) the humor, when doing attribution through edit summary it would be best to be most matter of fact. We need to be clear about this sort of thing. --Gordonrox24 | Talk 21:43, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK question

Hey MrMeAndMrMe! I was fixing Dennis Skinner's article and I found a fact that I found interesting, but I'm not sure if its DYK interesting. Skinner was nicknamed the "Beast of Bolsover" for saying inappropriate comments and nicknames to MPs, and even then-PM Cameron. Does this have DYK potential? I'm not sure how to word it. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 09:26, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TDKR Chicago 101 Thanks for the question! I think it does have potential. I think that the DYK can be something like
"... that Dennis Skinner was nicknamed to the "Beast of Bolsover" for inappropriate comments against members of Parliament in <year that he was named this>?"
This article doesn't actually mention that he was named the BoB for inappropriate comments against MP specifically, but rather the article just says that he made some inappropriate comments. It would also be nice to include the year that this happened. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 13:00, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This nickname appears to have just been given to him over time seeing how he has a history, and was known, for heckling and saying multiple petty comments to MPs over the years. It's hard to pin point an exact year. I also found stronger sources that link his nickname to his comments. TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 13:05, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
enwiki states that he earned the name in 1977 during a debate. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 13:08, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia translation of the week: 2022-12

If we're going to use the births and deaths by year for decade template, we need to make sure it isn't adding incorrect categories. Look at the categories on it: the only categories it should have are the ones that were on it after the change you reverted.

I thought the problem might be in the included pages, but that doesn't seem consistent with the sections that got included. Are you working on the template by any chance? It needs to not add year categories. --Auntof6 (talk) 14:00, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It's not consistent and it happens at random. I have no idea why this happens. The code for the template is exactly the same as enwiki, so I assume it's some template that it uses but even every template is the same exact thing. Let me check some other template, but I have something going on right now so it'll be a moment. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 15:19, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
When I saw this, the template was being used on two pages, and it was happening on both. That's why I removed it from both. There are also year categories being added to the template itself, due to the examples in the documentation. That's pretty consistent. -- Auntof6 (talk) 18:25, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm referring to the fact that the years that are being added to the category are random. MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 19:48, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Which major party would disagree with "Every child should have the best start with access to good education"? It’s not even cited. It’s like saying "we support good thing and oppose bad things". Given the amount of queues on hold, should we re-add the 7th queue? I transferred hooks that weren't my own (since it's against DYK policy) so the one's transferred were the hooks about Brazilian numbers, Great Oxygenation Event and Sylvius Leopold Weiss. Two spots remain to be filled included a hook with a picture. I recommend the picture one be that of Boric and the last remaining one be about a person.
Back in the day there was this balance policy where alternating queues would have 3 about people and 2 about objects and then the queue after that would have 3 about objects/locations/etc. and 2 about people. Just something to keep in mind in the future. TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 15:40, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion of List of video game franchises with baseball bats

The page you wrote, List of video game franchises with baseball bats, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. 1 E-60 s

When you tagged 1 E-60 s, you added {{qd|db|1=Unencyclopedic. We are not... This is the wrong format and caused it to flag an error cat. Basically, you set 1= db (for whatever reason) then immediately reset 1 = "Unencyclopedic. We are not..." The system sees that, wonder why you would do that then gives up and flags it for someone to come fix the error. In the future, lease pay better attention to what you put into articles and the results of that action. --Creol(talk) 16:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Creol I have no idea why this happened, I just used twinkle. Thanks, though MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 16:17, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Let me guess: you picked the Custom reason? No clue why that is even an option as it means the request is not per policy. ie, requesting deletion for a reason that QD is not approved for. And its broken anyway. --Creol(talk) 16:37, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the time, if you're needing to use a custom reason for QD, the article isn't QD'able. We can only delete for the reasons shown at WP:QD. If more explanation is needed to prove the article meets a certain QD criteria, that's what the comment box can be used for once you have tagged the article. --Ferien (talk) 19:26, 6 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of Wikipedia:Foreign redirects

An editor has requested deletion of Wikipedia:Foreign redirects, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2022/Wikipedia:Foreign redirects and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. --Ferien (talk) 21:52, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Women lawyers RfD

My point wasn't "this is an essay and so we shouldn't follow it" (although reading it now, it definitely comes across that way) - for example, "deletion is/isn't cleanup" is used in deletion discussions all the time, despite both being essays - it's that User:Auntof6/simplediffs doesn't provide any reason for categorising males and females the same way and says we don't categorise them as separately as enwiki does, not necessarily that we don't categorise them separately at all. --Ferien (talk) 15:36, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, that makes more sense MrMeAndMrMeLet's talk 17:30, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, although rereading the original RfD comment, what I said didn't get any of what I wanted to say so apologies about that. --Ferien (talk) 20:16, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Spacing

I noticed you changing one space between sentences to two in Chiasmocleis ventrimaculata. You go ahead and keep doing that if you feel the need, but the Wiki software always renders it as one space to the reader. For example, I'm putting two spaces in the wikicode after this sentence. And I'm putting just one space after this one. See how they look the same in your browser?

If two spaces in the code makes you happy, keep on. But be advised that it makes absolutely no difference to the readers.

You still want to bring Chiasmocleis ventrimaculata up to Good? I'm temporarily working two jobs, but I'd make time for that. Darkfrog24 (talk) 23:58, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question on Revert for Minecraft (Simplified Wikipedia Edition)

GhostedOnly (talk) 18:14, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(Sorry for poor formatting, I'm new and have no idea how the editor works. I am referring to this revision.)

Hi! This is GhostedOnly (real name is Adrien) and I just have a question on the revert of my edits for the simplified article mentioning Minecraft. I... actually don't know exactly why it was reverted? All I know is that I forgot to provide references, but I'm on a school chromebook and have no access to many websites mentioning Minecraft excluding wikipedia. I'm also not to sure about the rules on what links can be provided in articles (or what references should be provided for parts like "unless the bed is obstructed by a block or a mob is nearby".

If you could help, thanks!

Hello, Adrien. I'm sorry, but all things must be referenced. This is because false information is very easily added, so Wikipedia is considered a reliable source. References are good collections of information on this topic may be found. Do you know if you could access Wikipedia on another device to add these references? Subpages

Hi there. Earlier today I deleted the user subpages you had marked for deletion, such as User:MrMeAndMrMe/Thoughts. This subpage transcludes into many pages, such as User:MrMeAndMrMe/Thoughts/2022/4/2. As you hadn't explicitly tagged those pages for deletion, I left them alone. If you would like them deleted, either let me know or tag them and they can be taken care of for you. Thanks! --Gordonrox24 | Talk 21:54, 17 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
